Thread regarding McDermott International Inc. layoffs

Layoffs have started

Well it has started. Few folks were told not to come and take Friday off, 2 weeks notice pay and vacation reimbursement.

Post here, get bullied by the company and your post gets deleted. Talk to Bloomberg, a reporter will protect her sources. Speak out!

To the person who suggested legal action and termination:

Freedom of speech.
Whistle Blower protections are alive and well.
We aren’t short sellers.
We depend on McDermott for the livelihood of our families. We aren’t rooting for McDermott’s downfall. We want the company to succeed. However, we should also let other employees know of developments, in case they determine McDermott is no long in the best interests of their families.

Please McDermott, fire us for communicating to people who don’t know the full story.

And if we want to talk to the media, then it’s our business making the world aware of your world class example of how ‘not to do business.’

Seems like, if you want to get the story out, if MDR is trying to keep the story in, a legitimate reporter is the only way to go. Protect your sources! Im not sure if it really is MDR making threats on this board, but it sure seem like this board were spooked for awhile. The story will come out, maybe Bloomberg now, maybe WSJ later.

Go back and read old posts. Then read the news, read the earnings reports.

Truth is a defense, right? This idea of suing because it causes stock price declines is silly. No way you could establish causality. But I would relish the ability to subpoena meeting minutes and advisors, to depose upper management. What MDR is worried about are the ongoing investor suits. Go ahead and sue any poster. See what gets dug up.

So no freedom of speech at MDR?

With direct threatened termination and follow on legal action I don’t see it in anyones best interest in talking to the media.

Tell the story of the devolution of MDR and it will become mandatory reading in the industry and a B school case study. McDermott, TechnipFMC, CBI, Lummus, APTIM, Westinghouse, Toshiba, Shaw. Saudi Arabia. Allegations of theft of intellectual property. Scandal and criminal charges in Colombia. Due diligence on the Focus Projects. The PIPE. 4bn paid for CBI, half written off 10 months later. Why didn't the analysts and the market see this coming sooner?

Name the book "Complete Sh– Show"
