Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

The ‘Walmarting’ of Lowe’s

What we are seeing is the ‘Walmarting’ of Lowe’s—get rid of high wage, experienced, tenured employees that helped make the company what it is today and bring in a bunch of college kids and others that will work for bare minimum. It’s sad.

Posted by @11k4za50-gku, I think this is the perfect explanation of what's been going on here. And the OP is right, it's sad.

n my area, Texas, Walmart has stopped putting customer service surveys on their receipts. I guess they just don’t want to hear it anymore. Lowe’s will follow at some point in time. You read it here first!

Most of store level management could careless about those surveys. It comes off as annoying and begging a customer to come back. Most Lowes customers and contractors want to get the stuff they need and get out. Unless a customer has a really good or really bad experience, they don't care to do those surveys

the tenured associate in general are better workers than their newbie counterparts. There are exceptions to everything but anyone who works at Lowes could attest that the tenured employees are the least of our problems. In fact we could use more of the like but so many have left and others will soon be pushed out.

While I agree with the fact that Lowes has tenured, comfy employess that are that way, there are some that are not, and Lowes has already started hiring 18-22 yr olds for positions. Lowes is turning into WalMart, and you get what you pay for. Our customer satisfaction scores have plummeted with the hiring of so many young cashiers.

I hate to say it, but we have many tenured employees that are some of the laziest people I’ve ever worked with in my entire career. The only customers they help are the customers that have been coming in for the same number of years that they’ve worked there. They ignore any new customers. Either that or they huddle around with other very tenured employees and let everyone else pick up the slack. They never help any new hires learn anything, they never respond to any codes, etc.

I think it’s more important that the company should be focus on “quality” employees not necessarily tenured. but even on that point, they are doing nothing to keep quality people. Because the company doesn’t care. As long as there’s someone standing upright in the department, that’s enough for them. If they can get that at the cheapest rate they’re going to. It’s ridiculous.

What you need to do is encourage your customers to become shareholders and start voting against the tactics that the company is using right now. To complain to Marvin directly that we don’t have quality employees, or enough employees, or enough training that makes sense, and on and on. That they are more concerned with the long-term survival of Lowes, then short term gain.

I'm waiting for Lowes to hire at the federal minimum wage. Anybody making over $10 has a target on them.

The greatest economy is today, Yet the CEO war on employees never ends. Great employees leave not due to bad jobs. They leave because of terrible treatment by CEO’s and their policies. Carvin’ Marvin earned 14 mil in compensation last year.
