Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Applied with Union Pacific in a cattle call at a Hilton Hotel about 15 years ago.

I was the only one in the room offered a job; $52k a year to start.

HOWEVER, if they need you to come in on a day or night off, you have to be there in 45 minutes, or explain to the next person on the list why you couldn't.

Also you may have to lay over in another part of the country for weeks or longer, having to pay for a hotel as well as your home mortgage / rent.

When I asked about being out to dinner or a movie if I'm called, I was told, "When you work for U.P.that all goes away." I'm surprised they have any applicants at all.

And you had the opportunity to take the job or not. If you took the job you could quit. Either way it was 100% your choice.
