Sorry to all who are losing their jobs and the ones that didn't, I'm sure this is an awful time at Kroger. I worked for eight years in their jewelery division until the sotre I was mamaging was closed at the beginning of the year. I have no idea how the grocery divisions are run but I suspect that they may share some of the same issues that we dealt with. Our technology was at least a decade past when it should have been replaced. Our systems were slow, cumbersome and unreliable wasting incredible amounts of time. When they had the early retirement deal a couple years back we lost a lot of our most experienced main office associates who were able to help us keep things running. They of course didn't fill those positions, they just added their responsibilities to someone else. While there were many great parts of my job and great people some of the c-ap that came down from corporate was just crazy. I sadly wasn't surprised to see this happening. Thru the years I saw and had to try to explain to my people theses ridiculous plans that no one including myself could understand. I have never worked for another company that consistently tripped over dollars to save dimes.
