Holding out hope that the board of directors will hold Rodney accountable for his mismanagement of Kroger is not likely.
Change will only occur when customers and Wall street have had enough with a shopping experience that continues to become more unpleasant due to the replacement of staff with automation and a stock price that continues to lag.
Cost control is important however as a great leader I worked for told me " you can't save your way to the promise land."
It takes happy engaged customers to be successful and in order to have customers that are engaged and happy it takes associates that are happy and engaged.
Rodney and the board are following the playbook with new gadgets that lead to the failure of both Safeway and Albertsons. To expect a different outcome is foolish. Change will occur will occur after further erosion and the company is aquired and new leadership is put in place.
