More to come, so far is 2019, Citi laid off 950 people in January and then again in August. More layoffs expected 4th quarter. No one is safe, but they are targeting folks that have been with them for 15 or more years, ages 50+ up. Job discrimination is what I would call it. Too many head chiefs...,,

UnitedCitiSenior, I did contact an attorney for this when I was let go from Citi. The oldest of the department were let go and all the youngins stayed (after we trained them of course). All the attorneys said was it was an "at will" employer. My best option was to pick up and move on.
You heard that more layoffs are coming from where? No names of course but what was your source?
Someone in HR? A manager? Someone actually in “the know” or just more rumor. Its hard to tell as every month someone says “there will be a big layoff in ‘x’ number of months.”.
I got laid off from after 20 plus years in August. No warning and I am over 50 years old. I heard big cuts coming January!
Its Friday and the arms of hell awaits.
Haven’t talked to one person who enjoys what Citi has become. More sad is management doesn’t care.
There is a storm on the horizon. The goal is to have the work force be 40% female by 2022 or something like that. I may not have the percentage or year exactly right but the gist is the same. Doubtful there will such an explosion of growth between now and then with new sites. There is one path that I see. There will be some quit or retire but the path is clear. Make things so unbearable that people leave in mass and only back fill with females. Forcing people to leave is cheaper than giving a layoff package.
While I too consider Citi to be a living hell, I would also find it difficult to find a job as I’m now 60ish and too young for Social Security. I think that Citi IS definately targeting older staff and am shocked that someone hasn’t rallied the likes of Morgan &Morgan to represent them. When my “pink slip” arrives I will definately take the money and run....straight to an attorney who specializes in these types of discrimination suits. I wish more people would speak up. They certainly do at work. Why not in a documented public forum.
I hope they do target people with employment history of 15 years and people over 50 years old. Give me a break , give me a package and release me from the arms of hell
