Thread regarding JPMorgan Chase & Co. layoffs

Columbus credit card & Retail

I Just left a meeting with all of the staff and found out that all of card and retail teams in columbus are going away come 2nd quarter of 2020.
They site customers are using chase online and mobile app more instead of calling in which seems odd to say when they just opened another department in Springfield, MO for the same call type we take. They just flipped retail employees in Orlando to take credit card calls. They just announced Manila being trained on our calls. So which is it?! Oh and they guarantee everyone will find job placement before it’s too late so are denying the thought of severance from even happening. I don’t know how to tell my husband.

I just wished they would have been forth coming instead of lying about the whole layoff in Columbus. All those years of being proud to work for a company that we thought was so great. Best bet, find a different company that appreciates you and move on. It's tough if you have been there for a while, but your not safe no matter what department you transfer to. All those years of getting knock down by angry customers, then the final stomp in the head by chase. Can't get any lower than that. On top of no severance pay...wow...Merry Christmas(NOT HAPPY HOLIDAY'S)

@nbn There are no entitlements, in the US they can change the sev package anytime. They have over several years. And rumor has it next year there will be massive changes to it to cut the packages way back.

Sounds like they are telling them they will find jobs for them elsewhere so not to even worry about it. I did not have that experience in NYC- no one I know got any preferential treatment from being on "talent reassignment". Honestly it was a relief to finally leave after they'd been holding cuts over our heads for so long. I'm much happier now with another company.

The are training teams in Manila for many roles and then telling US employees not to worry, they are just going to be doing low level clerical tasks. Don't believe it. Chase has committed to outsourcing, automation, and insourcing (bring workers to the US from India). We even got an email from the CEO putting a positive spin on outsourcing by calling is a "Global Initative" to improve the lives of people around the world. It is what it is. Good thing is management is so inept that they are having difficulty getting it done. The have had the project going in my department for several years and just finally started a team in Manila to train. It's going to fail because the dude training the team in the Phillipines has no clue. Start interviewing now to make new contacts at other companies so when it happens you will have some people to call for a new opportunity.

what do you mean denying the thought of severance? If chase let you go, Base on how long you have worked in the company, you are entitled to severance.
