Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Sickening how this is being handled

People being invited to NC to look at the area when they didn't even know they were on relo list (surprise!). No concrete timing. No word on severance plan. No word on how roles and people will be dispositioned. No one seems to know anything yet things are supposed to start happening soon. Morale worst I have ever seen (being told youbarent good enough and all the smart people are in RTP not a good start).

Good post from @11xTLkDR-1zwq.

I have to mention that the low unemployment only applies to low wage jobs. Ask any XRX colleague who was layed off how long it took them to find a job. Low unemployment doesn’t mean lots of jobs are available - in fact usually means less are there. But I agree everyone should be looking to get out asap

I quit 2 months ago and working for such a fantastic company that has over 10% YOY growth...I cannot recall seeing growth at Xerox Canada in the 15 years I spent there....never going to work for a LOSER ever again

Seriously why are any of you still working at this sh– show? This is a dysfunctional relationship - get on with your lives and GTFO. Unemployment is at 3.5% for crying out loud. Stop being a victim. Tell these asshats to go pound sand.

The complete lack of professionalism and respect out of Norwalk is absolutely unconscionable. It really magnifies that everyone of them are truly dirt. Wonder how they’ll feel when something like this happens to them or their family members. Karma is waiting for them and I truly hope it knocks them down to hell.

It’s common to ask the employee to relocate assuming the employee will refuse (they know who to ask mostly) so you can be released for refusing the job they offered you.
It’s also not unheard of for those that accept a relocation that within 6 months to be asked to relocate again.
They know people can’t constantly uproot so they know what they are doing.
If you relocate or agree to any of it, get some things in writing and have it reviewed
If it was me, I’d walk over relocating unless there’s something in it for you (closer to family or you maybe have a job lined up if something goes wrong through connections, etc.)
I have family that has gone through exactly this. It’s a known plan to reduce the workforce by weeding them out.

@11z1

The 'standard' relocation agreement is if the company relocates you and you voluntarily leave the company within a certain time period (usually 2 to 3 years), then you would owe the company a pro-rated share of the reimbursement expense. If the company terminates you for just about any reason you during this period, then you own nothing with the exception being criminal activity.

Heard similar stories from an xdx person. Question: If you relocate and have to sign something stating you won't leave the company for 3 years.... does the company sign a similar thing stating they won't fire you for 3 years? Only seems fair.
