Where is the pay raise for cashiers? Why are they slacking on hiring people? They don’t seem like they are in a hurry to hire anyone, so I could see this happening. Bye , bye and welcome to the new generation. Members will be doing own returns . So why not eliminate cashiers??? And bye, bye COSs . That will be next .. along with membership associates. Give it up and find a new job. Associates are dropping like flies. SAD BUT TRUE. Good luck, everyone. Get out not, while you can.
Well Think of it like this.
When I started we had 10 lanes and 4 sco and scan n go was being piloted. They had already taken out two of them. Now they've cut down to 6 lanes and 7 sco. What's next? They'll cut them down again and add more sco. Eventually they'll add sco that take cash. All cashier's are member frontline host. Ta-da.

They have member shopping in an area about 2,000 sq feet for members with NO cashiers, a few associates to assist in finding items!!

We only have 4 cashiers working now. Can't wait until we're down to two and only one register at the desk, which is located way over by the door.
They don’t care if you pay for a membership, it’s basically the same way they doing the employees. Either these members get on board or wait time a two staffed register.
I just stopped into my local Sam's and they converted all but 2 or 3 POS to check-out. They actually had 2 cashiers working.

This could happen in some stores but in some this will not work. Just today I tried to get people to go to self check that were paying with a card they said no. Not all of them were older either. They say i don't work here I pay for a membership and I refuse to check myself out. I completely understand there point. At our club we have more older people than young and they will not check them selves out or even download a app. So I don't know how they will even get this to happen.
Every club eventually will be cashless. Scan n go or self-checkout. Yes cashiers will be eliminated sometime in 2020

Why remove when it's highly possible? Let's just wait and see. Sam's has been so bad to its people what difference does it make. We may be around for a year or 10 years but automation is for sure our future. MM here in Norcal have been telling CM's Model club in future is Sam's club Now. Be on board or leave. He has zero ties to caring about people at all. Kinda like a robot himself. But one that needs a constant breath mint.
Maybe OP is a troll, but in all fairness (and I'm not an employee), my local Walmart just went 90% self checkout. Last week, of the remaining 4 or 5 checkouts, 2 were staffed, with realllly long lines. People doing monthly shopping do not want to use self check out.
Now I know why only the Sam’s lay-off site gets so much traffic from the whino’s. Too bad all that energy isn’t used at work. Easier to complain on the internets. Type type type.
