One register, one phone and 3-4 iPads. No smart system, no main printer, no shredder. It's tiny. This should be interesting.

Yeah the member will be standing side-by-side you. And honestly this is a sink or swim type deal. The shift to technology is simply how things are. If you have to take longer because the member isn't efficient with keeping track of their receipt then that's on them. The receipt is in the app, available online and their membership card gets them out the door. For the gas station then they can get a written receipt. Those are the solutions. They don't like it then they can go to Costco and pay more.
How do they expect us to print a receipt that the member lost after leaving the register. We do this ai many times a day it crazy. Or they didn't get their receipt at the gas pump. This is not gonna work at all. First off at our store the majority of members are older people they will not do their own return. Second our frickin iPads don't work half the time anyways. This is gonna be an absolute mess. They told us now we even have to be the ones to ask for cards at the entrance doors along with click and pull, answering the phone, memberships, temporary cards, call credit people sit ok phone for 30 min, returns, and stand there get yelled at because we are not going fast enough, because why there only one of us at the desk most of the time. The only time we have a lot at desk is at 1 when the second block comes to work. Then how are we gonna fit all of us behind the desk with just iPads and one register. Oh and lets a not forget the member that strolss on over there for u to check them out because well they don't want to wait in line and they refuse to do self check because as they say mi don't get paid to check myself out you do. How many of us have heard that one. I have even tried to warn them what was about to happen they won't even listen I get told well aren't u on the clock then check me out. Now I don't mind if I have nobody at the desk and I am there alone but that hardly ever the case. So I have to stop what I am doing to check this big basket out and then my lone backed up 10 people who are all frowing saying they need to get u some help. And 90 percent kg the time our cos can't help because they are alone to especially now they won't because we are so far away. This is c-ap and it's gonna make very thing so much more stressful. Yet how many have heard membership job isn't hard? Well I know at our club I can say they may not think so but try to out them up there to do the job and in 30 Mon they are like nope I refuse to deal with that c-ap. So grab a seat folks this is gonna get bummy and yet we most likely won't even get a raise. But what we will get is a few more jobs added to us.

Most of my day is going from one system to the next most of my day is a waste. My job to do is getting harder.
First step towards the self checkout version of membership services? I think maybe. Members will watch how the apps are used, side by side with associates.
It will start with a choice... wait in line for help from a desk associate or hop on one of the available iPads.
Millions of people are already managing their own Amazon memberships, credit payments, and returns with a screen and no help from a human. It's silly to think we're not going that way.
First day back at membership. It was interesting to say the least. as previously said, not all ipads process the credit/debit cards. The new advertised get $20 gc for joining is a wreck. you can use their CC at ipad but then you have to go to register to make a $20 GC. The system they have created is not efficient, they need to fix the bugs.....the bugs are really that a computer cannot do what people can do in keeping our members happy....the computer is making our members unhappy...does anyone at head office really care???? Are you purposely trying to make members unhappy? Are you purposely trying to make associates quit? After you have made so many changes why does our CO go to Walmart?..has he created all the havoc at Sams and now wants to play at Walmart and see how long the downfall of Walmart will be???? Unfortunately this is the future of all retail...…….
Try having four people at the desk working with one register and two tablets. We had four registers, four tablets, two computers, and one computer from which we could access cash management. But home office took the computers and registers. One of the tablets broke, literally-got dropped. One goes with the cos's to the check our registers, to get credits. And we are left with two. O, and neither tablet is capable of taking a credit/debit card. Those card readers don't work. Fun times.
Let’s not forget when you’re at the end of the transaction and the member decides they don’t want an e-gift card even though they already agreed to receiving one.
@3hk1 - you know, you are absolutely right. Let them stand there and when they angry, advise them of the corporate number. I don’t have time for this c-ap; I’m certainly not on the Forbes list so why should I go even more above and beyond than I already do? No reason, that’s the answer.

We've decided, we are not taking members on field trips in order to pay bills. If central office wants them waiting in line, then the member will wait in line.

Read on wire they’re removing all but one register by end of the month. Didn’t say about a smaller desk but I’m sure they’re starting getting members used to it.
Imagine waiting for a cos to walk over to the door for a key turn, especially on the days when we only have one cos working. Good thing I've learned to not care how miserable the member is.
Is this true: You are not allowed to process a return and give cash back to the member, even if they paid with cash. The funds have to go on an egift card, no matter what?! That's what we are being told.
Looking forward to all day fights with members. Especially since we, the desk associates, are within arms reach of the members. We have had members threaten us before and management did nothing and now this?! Are you serious? Sam's Club is going to keep their cash?
Home office, what were you thinking? Don't you understand the serious relationship between human beings and cash? You're going to get someone hurt. For real.
Desk moving to door-no more door greeters they should have been learning for the beginning. Instead our older people run straight to the door, now that the desk is gonna be at the door hehehe buckle up it’s gonna get bumpy.
We have a smart computer (thin client) desk is only supposed to get rid of 1.
If the store is too much of a hassle, people will stop coming.
We’re down to one register and it’s a hot damn mess. Credit card payments and exchanges all seem to show up at the same time. We end up having to take a group of Members out of line on a field trip to the front end registers to do credit payments or exchanges. Like...what are they doing?
Well I don't know about anyone else's desk associates but I am telling you none of our desk people have time to sit on a stool. We don't even have time to go to bathroom. We do so many jobs it's beyond ridiculous. Example for just one day for u we all do the door and the self check breaks, all click and pull orders we walk all across store to get them because they are put across the store, answer the phone, make memberships do TMA returns that I know they can do themselves, make temporary cards, take payments, and call credit company with issues about their credit, fold clothes, I work as cos during lunches and breaks when one cos is alone, we do audits jewelry and phone, some of us do mobile, we actually helped members at jewelry. Hang all sign changes, and even stock, and have gathered carts. So I don't know what club allows their people to sit on stool or what store would even have time to do that. I have a Dr note to sit on stool if needed because of medical stuff but I very very rarely do sit on it. Actually if I do it a because I am doing something at the computer. What I don't get is the door greeters being coded same as membership because none not one of ours does anything membership does. A lot of us at our club do so many jobs for people who get paid way more than us. Yet you can't take someone from the floor and ask them to help membership because they gm have no idea what they are even doing. People hire in today and get paid more than a lot of us that have been there 5 yrs and up. I truly can't find the integrity in this situation. I hear people say oh stop complaining and just work hard and move up or get a different job. Thing is where we are from that is not so easy especially for us older people. Not only there u can apply for every opening but in our club they already know who has the job and they have less experience yet they are someone friend or young and they get the job. Yes this does happen on a daily basis. So they will go through the motions of interview knowing the entire time they already gave it to someone who has been there less than 6mo over someone who been there more yrs with more experience. Then funny thing is they will ask the older person that was looked over to train the young one who's hasn't been there long. This is happening way to much and until someone calls them out and people over at home office get a in trouble for these practices its gonna continue. Anyways everyone hang in there one day all us others will get that raise to 15 or at least I pray we do. If it don't happen well I guess they really don't know what integrity really is.

For sure the end of Sam's. I know I'm not fighting with members over returns. They paid cash and we are told not to give them cash back on a return, but to send an email gift card or print a paper gift card. If I paid cash for something and had to return it I'd be beyond mad if they refused to give me back my money.
This is 100% true. I saw a pic of the new desk. Makes sense too... Our desk is full of bad attitude nasty people with stools. When asked to help with other tasks they roll their eyes or throw things. Our club number starts with a 6.... You know who you are.
Guess I'll be out of a job come next week!
