Per their he policy (read a few days ago) you are supposed to be paid accrued PTO in addition to severance of 3 weeks if 1-3 years, more if there longer.

Illinois also pays out PTO when you leave or get laid off. I’d strongly urge people who have been laid off to write to the Governor of MN and your state reps to take up legislation that treats PTO as accrued wages. Sending a letter to the star tribune would be helpful as well. Maybe the cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul can create local laws for its residents.

I am sure the Chamber of Commerce and other corporations will likely try to stop it but this is something that should generate broad support.

You want to create more buzz, send it on to the Sanders and Warren campaigns as well.

Yes that is true. California has built in protections that I am sure UHG hates. They can carry over as much PTO as they want and get all of it paid even if they just move to a different state, layed off etc. So if your in California and fear a layoff don't take a lot of PTO and you will have a nice built in severance. Not many states do this.

Accrued PTO is paid out in full if you live in one of the States that define PTO as earned wages that can’t be taken away, like California or Montana.

Accrued PTO is never paid out, also in a layoff you won't get a bonus, your severance is based on years from the last hire date, Hired Jan 2018 and your going to get one week only.

Been with the company more than once and also a decade in total.

If your laid off I think the most they pay of your unused PTO is 40 hrs. hopefully they give you a nice longer term end date and let you actually use it if you have above 40. Bonus? LOL yeah right. One of the things they can do is give those layoffed would be bonuses to the guys still working. Will not happen but they are laying off to save money, there is zero chance for anything extra over your earned hours up till your last day.

I'm pretty sure PTO is seen as a benefit, thus is not paid out when you are terminated, or leave the company...

What the hell is a "accrued bonus"? You seriously think if you get laid off they are going to give you a performance bonus for the year?

Good. Maybe they or someone else can answer this question...If you get laid off in November and you've worked 11 months of the year, do you get your accrued bonus upon leaving and in Minnesota will they pay out your unused vacation pay?
