Thread regarding SeaWorld Entertainment Inc. layoffs

New Holiday/Vacation Benefit Rolls out at Busch Gardens - Williamsburg

So yesterday department leaders started presenting the reset of the holiday/ vacation benefits package. Lots of unanswered questions...all of which were passed off to HR who wasn't at the meeting.

So, we are moving to a PTO method of accumulating vacation. Sick Leave has been combined with vacation days. It is unclear if we lost any days here. However, I suspect we lost at least one sick day.

Optional Holidays- we lost 5 days...a weeks pay.

So the one benefit that seperated us from the rest of the world was taken away.

The kicker here is if after accumulating your vacation time you quit or are released, SEA will not pay out your unused time. If you give 2 weeks notice you can not use any of you time.

To the SEA Board of Directors and Corporate Leadership...you have brought a great company to its knees and alienated every employee. The order has been given, ABANDON SHIP!!!! EVERY MAN FOR THEMSELF.

Except that Disney cast members accrue their time in such a way that you can actually earn and use your time, rather than having to work an entire year to accumulate the non-annual time off ("flexible PTO is the bullsh!t term SEA HR came up with) that will be listed as part of your annual benefits and total compensation analysis.

Your local HR reps were likely silent because this plan was devised, manufactured, and executed by SEA HR, and likely at the direction of S. Ross. This was a targeted and calculated attack.

Do they care? Not one bit. SEA saves money every time hourly ambassadors leave on their own, rather than being restructured. Here's the formula: 1) eliminate ambassadors to reduce costs, 2) cost cutting creates more savings for salaried bonuses, 3) salaried bonuses are enjoyed during their unlimited PTO, 4) the parks continue to operate on the backs of front line ambassadors with no leadership or support from salaried staff because they're all on vacation, 5) remaining ambassadors get fed up and quit, 6) repeat steps 1-5 until company is run into the ground and enjoy the benefits earned by screwing over underpaid and overworked ambassadors

Oh we know disney has layoffs.

Yet they still appear to give a little bit bigger care than SeaWorld does right now.

Education is good and all, yet not neccesarily a quick solution or something that will resolve things. It also doesnt address a company that literally c-aps on loyal employees of 10+ years

Disney has layoffs just as well. It is not always greener on the other side of the fence. Best to get a good education and hope for the best.

Extremely embarrassing at today's meeting in orlando.

The person who ran it today literally couldnt answer questions beyond "I only have what info is on the slides. You'll have to wait for the mechanics meeting" and the hr reps were silent.

They also were great at side stepping the hard questions beyond "oh yea we get your frustrations... but this is how universal and disney are structured too"

Ok sure, we will go work for them like everyone else is. I'm sure they pay better without constant threat of layoff
