Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Any stores closing right after the holidays?

I know that we will get “our share” of new store closings soon enough,but is there any word about what stores could be first in line to close after the holidays? We all know that we’re way passed the point where holiday sales can make any difference, so I doubt that that will be the criteria when deciding what stores are first in line.

@2gxe

Everything I'm reading says that Montgomery Ward announced bankruptcy on December 28 (not 26) and that they liquidated over several months following, rather than closing all stores immediately.

they should file bankruptcy tonight, lock the doors and avoid exchanges like Wards did on Dec 26. Don't honor the gift cards either. Eddies way.PS take the cash for Saint Jude Hospital too.

Any store that relies on Eddie and Transform to pay utilities, taxes, payroll, and overhead will be closing quickly. Transform is almost broke..

All of them more than likely, except maybe a few of the super highest grossing stores like Guam and NYC.

I’d say that any stores that are “owned” by TransformHoldCo that have been sold will likely be next.

The next likely closures would be those stores that are at the end of their leases.
