Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

G55/PSR

The next quarterly report is January 23 and everyone who isn’t blind or completely stupid from drinking the koolaide realizes that they are going to miss the mark they set to reach. Since everyone knows the glass palace residents only “logical” idea is to keep storing locomotives, closing yards/shops, and laying off workers is only going to get them so far. The question turns to after/if they reach the magical number 55 is just how long will they be able to stay there before they have to do the massive damage control to correct all the mistakes the employees that have managed to survive the cuts are witnessing? The communities/workers are sharing the truth to the lies this company has been telling since they started the G55/PSR scam so hiring people to come in off the streets and work for this company is going to be the interesting task to see (yes they will get people to show up and work but honestly most they hire won’t stick around once they realize they are giving their lives away) Any thoughts on this soon to be developing story coming to a facility near you?

Once again someone manages to grab something that isn’t even in the post the “residents” I’m talking about are those in charge ceo, cfo, coo, cmo, the board and anyone else that has a finger in making these PSR decisions that are crippling the company any other non agreement employees who work there are not included in that statement they hate their jobs just as much as agreement employees do that it a certainty this company’s moral and pride is in the tank and not going up anytime soon. So focus on the main point how long before they do damage control after/if they hit the 55 target. Yes anyone that’s been around this company realizes every few years the magic number drops just a few years ago it was 65

I like how all the agreement people think that everyone working at UPC is part of some elitist conspiracy to rob them of their livelihoods.

In truth, they hate UP as much if not more than the agreement people, if only because they're in closer proximity to the toxic rot that is the UP corporate culture.

When they hit 55%, the goal will change to 45%. Doesn't anybody remember that this started out years ago as "Project 75"?

I’m just letting you know most of those people in the “glass palace” hate UP as much if not more than you. They just happened to be local to Omaha and got hired for some bs job out of college.

Where in the post was being in the glass palace considered to be high rolling if anything they are just plain high thinking anything they are doing is beneficial to keeping a company running long term. How long before they have to eat crow and beg people to comeback/work for them, but alas that will be the next unfortunate group put in charge not the current lack of leadership.

I can’t take anyone serious that thinks everyone in the “glass palace” in Omaha is some kind of high roller.

They'll go into damage control mode soon after the 55% Operating Ratio is hit. They'll coax new hires and former employees back with promises of a sign-on bonus similar to what CSX is doing now. However, they have set a precedent that hedge fund managers are now in full-control of the railroad and should another come up with a quick profit idea like PSR in the future that they'll go down that road again for the shareholders. This is all considering that the unions win their fight to maintain a 2 person train crew. If the conductor job is all but abolished completely then nothing above will matter and they'll operate with fewer and fewer albeit longer and longer trains.
