Thread regarding CVS layoffs

No Christmas Gift

I have been a supervisor for over 15 years and this is the first time I didn't receive or any other employee receive a token of appreciation from my store manager. Always got a gift card and a thank you
Work holidays, night, days off, extra for store visits, good attitude and exceptional customer service. See what I give you in 2020

I’ve had one DL get me a Christmas card in all my years as a manager. She quit this year because our RD didn’t appreciate her and treated her bad. I felt appreciated by her but now work is horrible. I am just riding it out til bonus time.

I always get my team something. This year I didn’t have much money because I had just bought a home but I still did and they were surprised by my token of appreciation because it was not expected.

I was a store manager for years and recently left. Store Managers don’t make a lot of money (my lead tech made more than I did) and in recent years we are seeing less in the way of benefits for us. I’ve never gotten a present from my DL. Not even a Christmas Card but I didn’t expect one. I bought my team a little something every year. Even this year when I left the company a few weeks before Christmas I still got my staff something. I didn’t even get a thank you from most of them but when you give you should give from your heart and not expect something in return. Having expectations that you should be given something isn’t always realistic when you don’t know their financial struggles. Keep in mind managers have debts too.

It's not a required thing across the board to receive bonuses or gifts we got a pizza party...

When I first started CVS I didn’t get anything but I also didn’t expect anything from my store manager either. I started getting something these past few years and tbh didn’t expect it this year because I’ve been wanting to take care of my store and make sure my manager can relax this time of year; the dude puts in way too much time and I just want to be useful to him and my team. Be grateful lift your boss up as this may be a hard time.

Wow I have worked in all levels of retail for the last 40 years and since I am back at store level I have made little goodie bags for the staff of 10-15 ladies gum, candy aloe soft socks and purse size hand lotion but more importantly a hand written thank you (everyone got one even those I know don’t care for me) it’s a team effort at work it’s my job as the manager / coach to make sure we hit our numbers and execute what corporate directs us to I am not in a popularity contest sh– happens but a good manager has the same real life when they walk out the door divorces, money issues ,death of a loved one you just don’t know it because they slap the happy face on to get the job done just saying always take the high road ..

Store managers don’t get gifts from their boss either , I’m a store manager and I have given gift cards in the past or boxes of choc
But with life and kids in college and higher car insurance and another car payment
I’m also living with out cable , home alarm
I’ve been cutting back everywhere . I take care of the assoc and tell them merry Christmas and really mean it - that’s all I can do

You realize gifts come out of the managers pocket? Did you stop to think maybe they can’t afford to do it this year? I mean, who expects to receive a gift and then complains if they don’t? You must be a boomer or early gen x.
