Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Store Manager accidentally forwards confidential email to all associates.

Our store manager just forwarded an email that was not for everyone’s eyes. They are actually going around to every associate and having them log on and delete the email.

When manager told me end of December I was staying until my IRPs were all done it was enough. Told office manager I was done, very little reaction, after reading what has happened now I know why. I just helped him out by leaving so nursery manager would have my FT job. This also explains why nursery manager was interested in learning how to rekey locks.

Is it just me, but every time a new person is brought to the company in the higher ranks, there is a sudden cut in lower positions.

Nothing verify about Sales Specialist or PSE!

All verified except vacation time limit, so far. Lowe’s in full dive. Many will quit. Too many yes people. Awful management from top to bottom. But what to expect when a hedge fund calls the shots?

They are pulling people into office letting them know they're position is gone in 4 months.

when I was an hourly manager for Lowe's I would forward those "confidential" emails to my personal gmail account all the time as a "backup" proof. IT couldn't delete anything once it was in my personal gmail. I did it for over a year before leaving the company. No one was the wiser.

If you're smart, you'd do the same and then post them if ever needed.

When they canned the PSI program they fed the media with a “huge hiring” post as a red herring. Sounds similar to the play book.

After watching the PSI elimination last year, I’ve been skeptical for the PSE. Last year psi in our area got new phones and laptops in December. When eliminated, they went to the store managers who now have store cellphones. Pse got new surface tablets in December. Mst managers are to get surface tablets and cellphones in February... most likely the ones from the PSE. Pse program will go all IME. Saves the company money on mileage... I got 18k in tax free mileage this year, and commission... as a pse I cleared 87k this year with commission.

Are they going to eliminate some department managers? Is anything going to happen with their position?

There is no proof. Proof is in the pudding. Not gonna happen

Nostradamus was only vaguely correct .0001% of the time. That’s why he released his predictions in quatrains. So at least one might be a little bit truthful.
You should try that.

Who leaked this to the store manager? This information was not supposed to be released below the regional level at this time.

Supposedly DM's are going to CSC this week. Something is going to be rolling down.

If it were true you would have posted the e mail they are doing test right now on specialist bonus structures so why would the eliminate the positions the store can t run with one specialist in each department this is a totally bogus rumor

Probably true. It was on our local news tonight that Lowes was hiring. I guess the state employment listing a month ago didn't do to well

As far as the RTM position, I recall in one of Marvin's Quarterly earnings pod cast that this function was going third party in 2020. Those RTM folks would be transitioned into working on the sales floor.

  1. We know the allowance is going away
  2. Look up on the status of vacations, it has changed
  3. Back end has been talked about and could lay odds is happening
  4. So if 3 are true, makes sense that the other is going to happen

The email was a breakdown of what is going to happen. It was the managers email describing in his words what changes are coming down. Not an official email from corporate but a breakdown from the manager to his team

The PSEs all received an email today about changes to their schedules. Why bother doing that if they're just getting eliminated in a month? The company just spent millions on new tablets for the PSEs as well. Again, why waste that money? If there's any truth to this post it was most likely a store manager making predictions or expressing opinions. Or forwarding something along those lines. OP is trolling. Post proof otherwise.

Ok, so usually when a change is going to happen, the district manager informs the store manager with a phone call. An email like this seems unlikely. I do think that all this about positions being eliminated is true though. Seems like lots of change is coming, we can count on that.

The PSE program is not going away and is an active part of the Lowe’s installation program.

With that information being false, I wouldn’t believe a word of this post.

A couple of years ago at my store, one of the service managers left their e mail open and left their desk for a few minutes to help a customer. A disgruntled delivery driver got on his e mail and sent out a very racist and homophobic e mail to the entire store. The delivery driver as a black guy and the service manager was a g– hispanic. You can only imagine what the e mail had for content.
The ASM at the time had to go to everyone in the store and have them delete the message. Eventually they worked with I.T. to recall the email off the e mail accounts of people that weren't there.
In typical Lowe's fashion , the delivery driver was given the opportunity to resign and receive 2 weeks severance but the service manager was called in the very next day and was fired by the district manager.
I hear that the service manager got an attorney and went hard after Lowe's. I know first hand that Lowe's settled out of court and the service manager was given a very nice sum of money just to walk away.

To put all this top secret information in a single email seems pretty unlikely. But then again, this is Blowes we are talking about, so all bets are off on stupidity.

You can pull up recently deleted mail. Pull it up and print it. Conceal all identifying information and post it. Prove this happened .

Hmmm…all of that information in one email? Lowe’s usually rolls out changes and position eliminations one at a time (max of 2 at a time). Information is usually given to the Store Manager the day before by conference call.

OP, You’re giving us a list of all the rumors that have yet to pan out. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Carvin' Marvin hoping to cut to the bone and/or alienate every associate so as many will leave as possible. Bottom line: those who feel underappreciated and alienated might just pack up and leave and the profits will look better. You can make a lot of money with no employees, although I wish the managers would stop discussing the LTR scores like we really have the power to change them. Lack of adequate help, scheduling and coverage is what affects those numbers. I like to say that customer service is only a rumor. Also, Marvin came from Depot where they do not pay as well as Lowe's and slowly but surely (one associate at a time) Marvin and company will try to rectify that discrepancy.
