My position is in one of the district offices and my DDVP, and according to most other DDVPs that he's in regular contact with, have received the finalized list of store closures as of the morning of the 2nd. He has indicated that he's been told not to share the list, although he'll be sharing it with some in our office, but will be reaching out to some of the more valued collegues at the effected stores about placement.

Will there be a press release today!
Just a thought. A poster from North Central reported an announcement of 26 store closings that have been distributed to the regions\districts for action. That doesn't mean that's all the stores closing this year. The 26 stores announced so far may be what is ready for liquidation now. More could close this year as leases\commitments\property sales are finalized as the year progresses. We could be looking at a Phase 1, Phase 2 and so on....
What I think. It says 500 million in cuts. Some of you said north East closing 30 stores , District mergers, positions eliminated , hours cut, it’s really about job cuts more than anything. Mr Xmas Poet said it. “ jobs will be few and work life balance will not exist “ you will be working alone to death ! So my guess if you “ make it “ this round most likely you won’t make the next round. Look out side the box. There’s more out there then this stress pit ! There is companies that will Appreciate your hard work and dedication! Macy’s on Tuesday will chase away all their talents just like circut city did. And they are gone ! Hi
Tomorrow is almost here. We'll know of store closing, consolidating districts and cuts soon enough. Keep calm! It's almost here. I pray for all of us.
It is only 30 stores... announced on Jan 6
Im guessing 150 stores. Bluemercury merged into Macys leadership because their founders left Macys recently. Not sure why Bloomingdales has their own management structure separate as well, makes sense to merge into Macys right? Here in the North Central we are concerned.
How Many are furniture galleries?
For those who may not know (pls ignore if you already have the info), the below link will update once the store closings are announced. Also a valuable source to see historically how many stores were opened, closed, consolidated etc

My guess is that it's smaller stores. Maybe some in places where there is overlap. In some places here in my area, there are 3-4 Macy's within a 15 mile radius. Probably some other areas where it's over saturated like that as well.
To the people in stores closing, take severance and work almost anywhere else for more money and respect. Macys is a sinking ship it has nothing new to offer and will be like Sears in a few short years.
ok i do have word that macy's in tucson (park place mall) and boulder are closing
I’ve been in this a LONG time. Very seldom is a Macy’s door over $20M closed. Usually <$13M, few exceptions for real estate value vs. sales $$.
southwest?
Considering their title is not DDVP, I'll assume you don't know what you're talking about
Im in North Central...wish I knew the stores. Im just a sales associate so I havent heard yet..
Can it be assumed that many of the stores closing are doors under 20 million?
26 stores closing. 10 in north central. Rest are spread evenly
Good f— to all.
Good luck to all.
They should essentially undo the May department stores. The growth is the South and the Coasts.
Typical management move. Release the list but "dont tell anyone" so therefore everyone will know by Monday which takes the heat off and makes some feel "lucky" they have been spared for now.
You mean DVP right? Anyone heard if we are trimming RDOS as well? Not all the regions are doing as well?
Is it large or small amount of stores?
