I’m wondering because I want to upgrade my appliances and can’t wait for sears to host their big going out of business sale so I can get a good deal.

Stores double the volume during closing!! People shop like they never did before and will pay for fixtures also. Example store can be getting k–led in profit and gp black on three months!!!

Closing stores hike up the prices. That's why its profitable to send merchandise to closing stores. They make more money than the stores still open.
Chances are good that when the final liquidation happens any major brands will get their merchandise returned from the warehouse. The only thing saleable will be Kenmore brands. Do you really want to but a store brand product from a closing store? Maybe if it's on sale for less than $20. Any more and you might just be paying to dispose of it for Sears.
Why do people think that you get such great deals at a Going out of Business Sale? At least a Going out of Business from Sears/Kmart. For an example when the Sears about a mile from my house liquidated a couple of years back I happened to stop in to see if they had something that I needed for the lawn because they were close, they did not have what I needed and went to another Sears that was not liquidated and about 3 miles away who DID have what I was looking for. There was a swarm of people purchasing clothing which was 20% off the regular sales price, the same clothing at a store not going out of business was 50 - 60% off and NO ONE was shopping there. The same thing has happened as all of the Sears and Kmarts were closing around me, I live in the Chicago area so there had been quite a few. Each time stores would close and they would have a big surge in shoppers looking for deals when the deals were at the stores NOT CLOSING!!!! People spending many more dollars than they had to by shopping at a store going out of business.
As another posted, Why would you want to buy an appliance from a retailer that is going out of business? How much money are you really going to save against how much headache it might cause you buying from a company which is closing? They have NO incentive to help you out if there are any issues as most merchandise is sold, "as is", no returns, etc., There has been so much bad press about Sears not delivering in a timely manner on appliances or not dealing with problem appliances that were delivered to homes in a timely manner.
Unless you can find the exact appliances you want for immediate cash and carry, then waiting for the liquidation event is going to leave you very disappointed. You won't be able to order anything from the RRCs. You might be able to take the demos, but even those will be picked over quickly, and at prices higher than the current sales.
Not only would I not try to score a deal, but I would be wary that anything I got would be unreturnable, maybe not warranted, and possibly damaged.
