Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

What can we expect in the new year?

More layoffs? More massive outsourcing? Elimination of some positions or departments? I believe it’s going to be more of the same, just on a bigger scale and that 2020 could be the year in which the xerox employees are going to be hit the hardest. Any other opinions?

  • 2tfv - the reporting I saw said they were on track to meet the entire program savings goal but did not state that any yearly targets were achieved or expected to be.

Additionally I have seen ZERO actual numbers for quarterly, annual, or program level achievements against OwnIT. If you saw otherwise please reference source. I’d be happy to discover I was wrong rather than see Wall Street giddy over ambiguous and non-quantitative statements.

Obviously OwnIT has been executing otherwise we wouldn’t have been seeing the massive layoffs and the popularity of this site. I think the point the commenter was making is that there is a lot more to come based on OwnIT plans made public by Xerox, and the pain may be worse if there is catch-up involved to recover from missed 2019 targets.

Wrong.. 3Q reporting showed ahead of Own It target.. learn to read the reporting before spouting false accusations.
You are kindly speaking a doomsayer with out knowledge... or maybe you’re just saying what you hope to be real as an X - Xerox employee.

Based on that my guess is they would just plan to keep doing the rebadge process each year. Rebadge in april, start documenting and training replacements in sept, full transition in January. Repeat in april 2020.
Although they likely thought these jobs were going to be easier and all the timelines are being pushed back now.
The big problem is the easy jobs were offshored many years ago so what's left for them to take usually require a decent amount of XRX knowledge or years of experience.

OwnIT cuts planned and communicated to Wall Street:

2019: $640M
2020: $450M
2021: $375M

Keep in mind they haven’t delivered 2019 yet and they are counting on flow thru. Key message: layoffs are far from over.

Can someone share the OwnIT planned cuts? I haven't seen them.

All of the above! Good time to make a New Year’s resolution to LEAVE that dump

They have already publicly disclosed the planned cuts under Project OwnIT. 2020 has similar targets to 2019, and since XRX is on track to miss the full program savings plan, 2020 could indeed be a painful year.
