Thread regarding Hitachi Vantara layoffs

Hirachi Vantara Federal began in August

Layoffs have begun in earnest. Quarterly targets haven’t been met and cuts have been made across the board. Sales are limited to existing customers which has been dwindling.

Look for massive cuts end of this quarter or beginning of 2020. Start looking if you have any doubts.

Looks like Turner is still at the helm. Federal must be booking some decent numbers for this quarter

With the approval of the DoD, the Shareholder (Hitachi Vantara) may remove a Proxy Holder (Board Member) for acts in violation of the Agreement (Proxy Agreement), including the inability to protect the legitimate economic interest of the Shareholder (Hitachi Vantara), and/or gross negligence. It's not a hard sell to show the government that the failures of the CEO David Stuart Turner and crew have negatively impacted the business = not protected the legitimate economic interest of the Shareholder (Hitachi Vantara).

All Hitachi Vantara has to do is apply pressure and the Board will bend, if not break. The prior HVF President was shown the door by the current Board members for far less and he was actually liked. David Turner has achieved record setting level failures, amassed non stop litigation against the company, created a toxic work environment pushing HVF off a cliff into what seems to be an unrecoverable death spiral.

The only way to stop the hemorrhage is to remove Dave Turner, remove/replace the inept Board that enabled this disaster to continue when all the signs were there and bring in a new leadership team to address the toxic environment this group has caused.

In response to the question about when HV corporate is going to fire the (I assume HVF) CEO, the simple answer is they can't. HVF is a FOCI mitigated company that has its own board of directors and is not (supposed to be) influenced by what HV does.

I guess the HVF board could decide to dump the CEO but that would be challenging as most boards stick together. The other option would be for HV to eliminate HVF but that would mean HV would not being able to do classified government business. Perhaps that's why HVF has moved away from ViON who used to do a lot of classified business on HVF's behalf. HVF is trying to ensure that HV will keep them around despite their less than stellar showing.

Incompetent and inferior leader with a glorified title as CEO Dave Turner is responsible for the failure of Hitachi Vantara Federal, along with his queen. Worst experience in my career.

Dave Turner has to be one of the worst leaders I have ever worked for. At any point, you could walk by his office and his feet would be up on his desk while he was doing something on his iphone. Smooth talker who will promise you what you want to hear and not deliver. I'm not surprised that he has run HV Federal into the ground. All the blame for the demise of the organization can be laid at his feet.

With MASSIVE layoffs across Hitachi Vantara the past two days, I'd be interested to know if Turner survived? It looks like the majority of his peers in other Geos have been let go. The entire "Digital Transformation" strategy has been a complete failure. More layoffs are coming this week.

When is HV corporate going to fire the CEO? He and the executive team just fired 10 of the 12 recently hired federal reps, stating they all were wrong hires. How does an executive team (all included in on the hiring process) make that kind of mistake? One person who had just retired from the government and was let go from HV Fed less than a year on the federal team. HV federal now has three new reqs looking for replacements to continue his non stop charade. When is this insanity going to stop? Wake up Hitachi Vantara corporate!

Please don't let Turner run another futile attempt into the ground. He and his minions systematically fired all of his direct sales management team and a dozen sales reps along with a few technical support staff. Sales management has been completely replaced and they are now in progress of hiring new federal reps. Why does corporate continue to let this "tool" run federal operations when he has no clue?

I am extremely happy that I made the decision to leave and move on with my career. The company hasn’t provided a realistic vision for some time. And please, the Managment staff is so high on themselves they lose focus of the real workers.... no self-awareness! No workplace values!! No leading by example!!! Instilling fear!!!! It’s a miracle they haven’t been hit with more lawsuits.

VION is definitely a large issue. But doesn't this go back to another point on this thread regarding the head of marketing and channels. Has Hitachi Fed signed any new partner in the past two years or longer that produced any new enterprise infrastructure sale?

It still goes back to the leader and his small group he continues to protect to the chagrin of the rest of the federal team.

It's NOT only Hitachi Fed with the c-apola management. ViON corporation, a big player in the Fed space hasn't been the same since Tom Frana gave the reins over to Henry & Davidson, prior of Hitachi debacles.
Oh well, if we learn nothing from history, it's that we learn NOTHING from history.

All of these posts are legit. Existing executive management is completely clueless. All of their hopes are pinned on Hitachi's latest enterprise hardware release (Jupiter), which only has 10 installations globally. Think about that when you're mission is to sell into a saturated enterprise storage market dominated by Dell EMC, IBM, HPE, NetApp, etc.

Bottom line, if you're unemployed and need a place to hang your hat for a year, HVF is the place for you. Just be aware you'll be pressured to fudge quarterly numbers constantly to "make things look good". You'll be ridiculed at QBRs if you don't. This will ultimately lead to you dismissal after a year and given a fair severance package. If you play the game, you can collect a salary while looking for a solid gig towards the end of your year. It's true, HVF has fired approx 12 reps over the last 8 months and have 5 left. Three are long term (7 years+ at Hitachi) and two others. That's it in a nutshell.

Hitachi Vantara Fed just laid off a couple dozen people after hiring three new sales managers.....VP and 2 Directors. The new sales leaders are managing only 5 account managers post layoff so they will likely be trying to hire more sales people. They have a Channel Director that has no channel background. Avoid working for or doing business with this company. It is a s**t show.

Who cares what the CFO wants to do! Do you really think most of the dozen reps who were fired are happy about a one year stint and fair severance package? Some of these reps left large companies to join HVF based on pure hype. Everyone knows it takes a year and a half to two years building up a legitimate pipeline for multi-million dollar ops in the government.

In terms of today's climate the Fab Five (CEO, CFO, CMO, HR & Legal) all need to be impeached. They built a house of cards based solely on the prior year's anomaly which was two "old school" reps taking advantage of refresh cycles in established long term accounts. There was minimal new business, if any.

Current CFO is hoping to just buy time until he plans to retire. That is in about 5 years. His kid needs to graduate high school first.

HVF does offer good separation packages. I was let go in the very beginning of Q4 2019. The job market is still strong. So between the two one should be fine. HVF will also pay unemployment benefits.

It's indisputable that Turner has to go as evident from all the posts thus far. The CFO has also led to the downward spiral as he's instrumental in making recommendations on who to fire next. This guy is another executive who hasn't a clue for federal infrastructure business. I'm assuming the head of marketing and channels had to be fired as this person hasn't helped the fed team generate ONE real lead in almost two years but stays employed because of the president. In just one year (approximately) all four newly hired DOD reps have been fired or left on their own. To go from 18 federal reps down to 6 in less than a year is insane. Stay far away as Hitachi Vantara Federal is a very toxic environment and will ultimately lead to a frustrating experience and negatively impact your career.

HVF is the most poorly managed Federal organization I’ve ever seen. After the huge reduction today, there will be reqs on the street. Stay far, far away until you hear that Dave Turner is gone. Poor reputations, non-existent experience in the enterprise storage space, huge white, male egos and a rumored inappropriate relationship with a direct report all abound in his supposed leadership hierarchy. Would be surprised if HVF exists in 2-3 years.

Dave Turner ran Hitachi Vantara Federal into the ground with his incompetence. He doesn't understand the Federal market and just consistently blames the sales team. They are firing 20% of the the company today. I think there are a half dozen sales people left being managed by 3 managers. I hope customers hear what is going on and stay away from buying products and services from this company.

Word at the mothership and on the street is everyone knows that Turner is grasping at straws hiring new “leaders,” because he knows his days are now numbered. He is trying to distract from our nonexistent pipeline while he is actively searching for a new gig and not gaining any traction. It’s unfortunate that the new hires had no idea the death spiral they walked into. Partners and customers don’t even want to take meetings let alone be associated with us.

Brace yourself, because sweeping layoffs are scheduled for April.

Hopefully when Jimmy Adkins fills the role of HVF’s interim President he can begin to right the ship and start the process to unload Turner’s current incapable team.

Current quarter must be looking solid as HV Fed has hired another leader. It wouldn't be a stretch if they have one manager/leader responsible for two reps. Insane strategy IMO to garner net new revenue. If the few remaining "old guard" reps have another big refresh cycle, the quarter might be salvageable.

Seems that layoffs have subsided for Q4. Looks like federal has hired another YAM (Yet another Manager) to help shield the president. Top heavy with management Cronies and weak in execution. Will be interesting to see how Q4 works out. Will HV Fed go 0 for 4?

The Worst quarter in the history of Hitachi Vantara Federal is extremely hard to believe given the government passed $1.4 Trillion in December. This must be a mistake given the healthy pipeline numbers earlier this year. If true, what action might the parent company take?

Post ID: @Cmwv+12krRKZP

Hitachi Vantara Federal is a literal trash fire run by by a President embroiled in non stop scandal and lead by incompetent “leadership” that survives based solely upon how well they stroke the almighty’s ego.

The first two quarters of the year less than 50% of quota was attained. Q3 is coming in at 1/6 quota. Congratulations to the team, the worst quarter in HVF history has been achieved. If you value your career, look elsewhere. If you are a current employee, keep your head down, start interviewing, and/or continue to pray Hitachi parent wakes up, comes in and does a complete refresh of the leadership team.

Lay offs are guaranteed for Q4.

There we rumors of more layoffs in December and January. Has anyone heard anything?

Post ID: @8qpj+12krRKZP

I was a victim of the federal layoffs. Be careful as they come without warning. Quotas are insanely high for Hitachi's old storage technology and pathetic management style. Dell, Pure and other brand names are winning what little business still exists in federal "Green Field" accounts. It looks like there's a hiring freeze currently but be cautious (if the freeze is lifted) unless you're unemployed and need a place to hang your hat for six to nine months. Good Luck
