Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

supervisors gone means you’re next?

Many of our supervisors were let go yesterday. Leadership said there would be restructuring, but they don’t know what or how. I feel like, it’s us to go next right? Has anyone else seen the dominos fall this way? Supervisors/ upper staff and then eventually the individual contributors get the axe? Clinical positions.

I was one of them in a group lay off . How insensitive. Interesting that in the last CEO conversation he talked about hiring 10000 staff to replace the one left by choice and retiring. No on is safe. I. Was a top perform with a stellar team and high NPS scores and after 15 yrs I still got canned. This will ultimately come back to bite them. The will never achieve the NPS goal of 70 in seven. ,

Everyone is at risk at this point. Agree with getting emergency fund ready and update those resumes.

I agree that February will be another wave. I don’t expect to have a position then. My team seems very unstable.

Multiple positions laid off. Not just upper management. Clinical reviewers were, some coordinators, medical directors.... emails sent out had an age list of positions and if they were "selected" or not selected.

It’s definitely not done! We heard we were “safe” 2 months ago and now several teams are gone. February is rumored next round from multiple sources

I was told there’s another round February 2020. This is so stressful .

For C&S, they still have to have clinical reviewers. Contracts with the states are not going away. Yes, they are looking to automate a lot of that process, but staff will always be needed for the cases that don’t pass the DTQ. Internal buzz is the layoffs are done for now and restructuring refers to what supervisor/manager you’ll be reporting to. This could be a departmental change but we won’t know that until tomorrow or early next week. Basically, be glad you have a job today and know it could be you next quarter. Get that emergency fund ready and start looking!

We were told the layoffs were done...the restructuring now will be moving those that lost management to other teams. Both UHC and Optum laid off people in efforts for the reorganization that is happening in 2020, where many are transitioning over to Optum. Don't worry about losing your job at this point. It's completed is what we were told.

This is a publicity traded company and loyalty is to shareholders. We are just a means to the end. Work on that emergency fund and always be job hunting. Good luck everyone.
