2019 Optum Layoffs News Worthy

Why is this not on national news or financial channels at least? They have been laying off in waves since August 2019! Literally thousands. This December wave is 1400. What a shame of values! This is due to very poor management at the very top! No organization.... I know personally of resources spent and wasted, contracts that cost hundreds of thousands... then they decide they can’t use that technology and ironically our top executives know nothing.... terrible outcomes that negatively affect members and nurses. I’ve been in meetings where we literally have 30+ people and no one knows what they are doing. This is crazy! Very reliable source says next huge wave in March 2020. Watch for mandatory meeting invite that says “training “ and your manager won’t even know. Outside consulting decides the positions to go.

They are purposely laying off people in batches of 500 employees or less over and over to avoid compliance with The Warn Act. They don’t want the truth in the Media because it might cause their stock value to decrease. Heartless and greedy.

Correction, I meant 60 days notice and not 6 weeks....I believe this goes along with the WARN act.

Would reporting these massive layoffs without 6 weeks notice be a good idea to notify the U.S Dept of Labor about? Are there laws regarding offshoring that need to be looked at as well?

The media is not your friend. There is plenty of fake news. UNH has plenty of communications people. It is all about advertising and lobbying dollars. They have tested this. No one cares.

You can call the media and let them know what’s going on. UHG does lay offs in waves so that the can avoid having to publish that they are reducing their workforce. It also saves them money because of they are forced to report it, they have to provide the employees with more of a notice and a better severance package. Currently they are giving employees 2 weeks of continued work before they are forced out which is crazy considering it’s the holiday season and most won’t be able to find jobs quickly. It’s so sad and leadership should be exposed.

At the end of the day its a scummy thing to do. We all know that.. but being realistic that's why they are a fortune 500 company.. any smart business OVER hires so when they need to save money they technically don't "lose" people.. they just take advantage of the cushion they made themselves..Again SCUMMY but its the business model that made them successful (financially speaking)
