Nobody Cares About UP (Or Any Other Railroad)

I know that many people at UP (especially Agreement) think of themselves as being indispensable to the national economy, but the fact of the matter is that nobody thinks about UP or any other railroad except for when they have to stop and wait for a train to pass by.

In the near future , small quantities of goods will be packed and shipped to order by drones and self-driving vehicles. The railroad will also become automated, and will make only a few large shipments to local distribution centers.

Even without PSR, the current business model for the railroads is totally obsolete, because it's still based in the 19th Century. The executives and shareholders seem to know this, which helps to explain a lot about recent operational changes.

Are these the same drones that people are shooting down? Are these the same self-driving vehicles that go up on flames or crash into sh– for no good reason? Guess what the current model may be old, but it was still working. That's a fact, and not an opinion. Your post said nothing except it pointed out just how opinionated one can be.

This fantasy is the result of too many power point presentations and not enough experience in the real world.

They were doing PSR in the 1800s with steam engines and hand-delivered train orders.

OP thinks we only haul intermodal I guess. Let me know when those drones start delivering grain, autos, and frack sand.

Wow such a great post you had to post it twice with some minor modifications. Let’s see the freight railroad system shut down next week and what will happen. Maybe in five years the OP’s panties will be delivered by a drone but we’re not there yet.

All these jack asses that don’t care at all and yet here they are on here with the rest of us.
