UHC/Optum is in clear violation of its own core values. Why would anyone else care about those values if they don’t? No one cares about what management knows. We know layoffs will continue to happen and as long as they do, we will continue to post. This site is called TheLayoff.com not UHC.com or Optum.com.... a raise of 20 cents isn’t a raise so please stop with the nonsense. This is the World Wide Web, can’t be controlled by UHC/Optum or its minions.
Why get on here and comment on a Lay-off Website if you’re sooooooo happy with UHC/Optum? Obviously you’re either NOT HAPPY AND ONLY PLAYING YOURSELF -or- you ARE UHC/Optum Management/PR? So which one is it? You trolls are probably both! Ha! Enjoy love!

Trust me when I say the managers know about this site. Whoever is running this site is doing so unethically. It is in clear violation of the company’s core values. The people that are trying to tell you so called big waves of firings are coming ,you can find out your getting fired on the hub, or that if your annual review was a 3 or less (hello a review of 3 or higher actually gets you a raise) your getting the axe is lying to you. Stop being so gullible and listening to all these negative nancys and do your job. You do your job then you don’t have to worry about being fired
All these layoffs happening now in Nov and Dec 2019 are planned out in Aug 2019. I sensed it when my manager opened CAP against me illegally within 1 month of moving to the current position for no reason(feed the puppy to the lion). I went to "emergency" to use 5 weeks of PTO and back now. I was pushed to cancel my PTO in an "emergency" situation and learned in Aug that my position was not o work, but to feed me to layoff to save the manager buddy team members. Now in a Layoff situation as I guessed it. Rule no1: Never accumulate your PTO, if you so you are the target for the manager to show "savings number" for his/her bonus story. Rule2: Never work for a company even though you are employed by them, but assume for yourself and learn.
You're right, the company probably doesn't care about this site but do you really need to be so rude to the people who are finding some comfort in the solidarity here?
We get it, we're all replaceable cogs in the (rapidly sinking) machine but at least allow us the space to vent about the colleagues who were let go. UHG and Optum are undergoing a massive brain drain. Godspeed to those left behind shouldering the burden

So happy I retired from UHC last year and don’t have to deal with the stress of the job and layoffs. My heart is with all those who have lost their jobs. With the job market, hoping you all get a good job soon for a company that appreciates you.

Wouldn’t it be hilarious if we all resigned before Christmas with new jobs? Leave them and their damn queues hangin. Oh the thrill of that idea! How I pray to have a job in time for Christmas to screw them!! I know I know you think that aint thenChristmas spirit but heck yea it’s the Optum Christmas Spirit and for starters after last week, I am calling in sick tomorrow. I need ME time.
On another site it said they laid off 1,400 in one day. Is that true? Also heard they're putting the jobs to Ireland for tax benefits?
I don't get it? Why would any American get a Medicare Advantage Plan if the company is laying off American workers, putting jobs overseas? Medicare is a great plan and is staffed by American workers! And why are our political representatives approving the Medicare Advantage plans this year?
The cost is very high if you're putting people out of work and their losing their income and go on unemployment. Its sad to see people work so hard for 11 1/2 months and then be told their layed off and lose their bonus, 401k contribution and vesting, deferred retirement benefit vesting, any other vested benefits, and their income!
One goal of Management is diversion of the Bonus Pool. They have sent the message that, “ Be Thankful that you have a job”. This will rapidly work against them. This is a very tight labor market. They have succeeded in demoralizing their work force. Expect a mountain of problems with the plan to send everything overseas. Management will take record bonuses this year.
The next move is clear. UHC will get split off and sold. They are going to run with Optum because the margin and scale are much greater in Technology. Is Optum really a tech company? No one with any common sense intimidates all of their workers and expects to make money from them. The UNH trolls from HR are all over this site. They are also selling cosmetics on the internet while at work. Good Luck with the HR group.
Not sure why they are trying to hide it. They have laid off hundred of people right before Christmas, what response did they expect? They let us go through open enrollment, make new hires and told us “we were safe” then without warning cut everyone. 10,15 years with the company! It doesn’t matter to them. It’s all about the money and the cheaper labor over seas. Their customer service will go to sh*t. We all know what it’s like to deal with companies that outsource their work.
