Thread regarding Southwestern Energy Co. layoffs

What's the best alternative to SWN?

Looks like the entire industry is in shambles right now. I've been thinking about leaving on my own but one look at other similar companies here has me in a panic. Same if not worse issues everywhere I look.

Where do people go when they leave SWN? People whose jobs are very industry-specific, that is. I know somebody in IT would have no issues finding a new job. I'm not that lucky, though.

Best thing SWN can do is plead and lobby California to drill off their coast, or convince New York that fracking would enhance their economy. Unless you’re an accountant or engineer, you basically have no job skills to easily transfer to another industry.

Best move for SWN? Hire more Executives like our current CEO is the answer. This way more layoffs can be justified. Look for an updated org chart early 2020!!

Previous poster is full of it. Best alternative, I hate to say, would be a major. For much of the last 30 years that has probably never been the case. But virtually every independent is staring down the barrel of eventual bankruptcy, or a buyout. Once they stopped caring about what was underground and more about creating a manufacturing business (to make Wall Street give them multiples) it was over.

Look no further than the CEO. SWN = joker. Other companies = respectable. The end.
