Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Optum Behavioral will see cuts Q1. Too much duplication in case mgmt and LifeSolutions etc

Members complain of multiple calls from multiple departments and many members don’t want behavioral health services as long term case management. We need queues for inbound calls but those will unfortunately be sent offshore. Members like to complain about their lives yet don’t take action to change them and upper mgmt now knows clinicians really don’t impact behavioral change in a substantial way so cuts are coming - management and directors as well as frontline. We have behavioral health because it’s needed as a front to show we are compassionate but we aren’t. We are about money here. BH is a big money drain. Hospitalizations alone for BH are drowning us and cuts have had to be made already to concurrent review staff. Facility based will be fully automated shortly and sent offshore if unable to automate it next year. Not trying to cause fear as we don’t want layoffs but there are many duplicative roles and cuts and reorganizations are needed to stay afloat.

Don’t believe anything here until you see a date given. All this is their guesses of what may happen. The last two dates given were spot on. No date given? then take it as opinion with possible wisdom in it, but take it with a grain of salt

If UHC and Optum are sending jobs overseas we should email the White House. United is Fortune 10 and bringing jobs home is the new mantra. Anyone willing to be a whistleblower? I don't know how to be stealth and hide my identity. Because I need to stay employed as I plan my escape.

Agree. Olds are pretty stubborn and I don't many ever really change but they like to vent. Mental and behavior health is hard to treat and very long term. A drain for sure if no return. Sorry to hear about the deptartments they have taking a beating with layoffs.
