Laughable core values! My position was eliminated in October! I found a new opportunity making 20% more with no travel! Received a phone call today from recruiter at UHC about an open position I frantically applied for the day I lost my job! Felt good to say I wasn’t interested! Nor would I ever consider working at UHC again! Good riddance! Keep shipping all those positions overseas!

Be glad you turned it down. They cut me after 5 weeks in training for the new dept. I'm not the only one. They hired a bunch of extras planning to cut down the group
There is hope outside of Optum. Just don’t go back there and find other places that will treat you with respect and honor. Bullying in corporate America still happens so when interviewing tell them about your experience there and that others will need rescue soon too!
So sorry oh my goodness!! May you find complete happiness in a job that pays well and has great vacation time and benefits! Remember karma for those BH managers. May you get a job with a compassionate company! I think I know you put in several decades with the company!! I think I know who you are! Karma to the director one who screamed at you twice during meetings with your supervisor!! Post here when you find employment so that the rest of us can cheer you on and then learn which behavioral health managed care company truly cares!! I too hope I find another place. I’m leaving in January I heard through the grapevine actually! I had a gut feeling anyway....
I basically told My supervisor I had no more goals in life. I told My team lead too. I was obviously s–c-dal at the time and miserable at the company who ignored my asking for help. I was fired in March after CAPs. They wanted to claim I had performance issues but I was very fast with doing my work and did act with compassion. But I most definitely had compassion with people. They were trying to get out of paying severance with a lay-off. So instead they fired me. I was in Optum Behavioral. So if you say you are s–c-dal or hint at it you get fired. Kinda ironic that the least compassionate staff were Behavioral management huh? I’m ok and would never harm myself now! But then I was struggling and they lacked insight and ability to help. It wasn’t until I got outnthat I could see how toxic that place was. May we all find jobs soon!
I like it here reading all these comments. I learn how many others here are unhappy too. It’s even helpful to know that layoffs may be our ticket to happiness!!
No it’s great. We know when we will get laid off now with dates. We know layoffs are inevitable and just bracing ourselves. This company has always ruled by fear in the last years. Employees also feel encouraged to see employment is possible afterwards and that there is hope. The worse I function after UHG and Optum means the company didn’t care for their own. It’s a perfect Demi starting to corporate responsibility to step up and own their financially disastrous choices that are causing the need for layoffs in the first place
Everyone is fine until they get laid off, it's part of the normal anger phase. This site is toxic to current employees though.
What happened to UHG's head of Culture last year?
Well with no job in sight, looks like you’re stuck with us typing here dude. We got nuthin’ to do but to deck the halls with Optum balls..lucky you huh?!
I find it amusing all of these people working for so many years at a company they say they've hated for years. Go get another job, plenty of others. But shut up just b/c they laid you off.
@12sDg3vi-kfi Settle down Judgy McJudgerpants. Everyone knows UHC/G/Optum leads on WAH. Once WAH is gone, ain't nobody hanging out for the sh– pay and raises. People riding it out are hardle in a position to influence.
Watching this convo you can tell who is “judge-y” as management or HR (their comments always have such an air of mean spiritedness with such animosity I might add..it so accurately paints a picture of what being there was like, doesn’t it? They are exposed with their harshness!) ...Hugs and Shalom to all. May you find comfort in knowing you are loved this season and I have put in way more than 17 years so I can empathize with persons below, and I was kicked out earlier this year so I know what it’s like. Think of it this way, you are not alone, either of you, and I wish you comfort and peace and I sincerely hope you feel some people on this site care because we do! The nice comments are from your caring colleagues and the griping comments about this place are also your colleagues haha because let’s be real it’s hell there... People that act roughly on the outside are miserable inside. Remember that. Loving behavior wins every time. And, of course, Love never fails. So know that You are loved!
Interesting that you stayed at a company where you saw horrific things for 17 years. So were you participating in the horrific behavior or was it ok because it wasn't happening to you.
Hang in there. I'm feeling very upset about all of it too. It's such a hard thing to go through. I'm hearing no more layoffs on my end, but I keep waiting for the meeting request and it's k–ling me...
Where and what is your new position?!?!? Congrats!
I personally want to know how many are considering ending their lives once they hit financial ruin after this place. And How many completed s–c-des? There is a responsibility the company has in the public eye for the disasters they leave behind and toss away like trash. I assume it can only continue to worsen public image of this place. I know money is their drive, but money will dry up if the company who brags over its size and power is known as the place where people never recover from. Why not keep applying even if you know there is no hope? Because what if managed care is all you know? What if you are too tired to learn or too old? So if HR determines someone unworthy and no one else hires what is the point in trying anymore? If you kept us for 7 or more years it means you approved of how we work and we got comfortable perhaps. But isn’t that the plan of this company to mentally ruin people? I am not bitter or depressed but resolved that eventually someone will make their exit so public and brutal to UHG that they won’t go quietly but will make their exits quite evident that their ruin was because of UHG. It’s a true fear of mine. I hope they begin providing mental health screenings on the way out because from what I know of folks there they really do intend an internal sabotage. It’s scary.
After 17 years and the horrific things I have seen and experience uhc do to its employees, I too will NEVER work for this company or any of its holdings again
