Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

Offer Letters & Severance Packages

For those who have a guaranteed position:
Did you receive an offer letter? Do you only get one if you are a certain pay level or if your pay/title changes? How we're you notified (in person, through email, via HR)? Did they keep your pay the same, decrease or increase it?

For those who have got severance packages:
How were notified(email, in person, phone..)? Did they ask you to stay through a certain date or dismiss you that day? Did they provide any reason as to why?

For those being offered new positions to stay:
Did they then give you a choice between a sever package or take a different position or did they just say here's your new job take it or leave it?

They have done a terrible job letting employees know what to expect, it's pathetic. Especially since there's so many of us that haven't heard one way or the other if our team as a whole is even safe.
TIA for anything you may be able to share!

Our dept at BBT was just told we are switching to a SunTrust system. A lot of what our dept does is outsourced by this system at SunTrust.

Needless to say we are nervous now.

I was told of my new job in mid-October. Was provided via a rough org chart, like a lot of other people got. After that, nothing. I gave up in mid-January and left.

I realize this is a new exercise for all involved, but given this is a risk-averse employee population, this is being handled really badly.

SunTrust Employee here. I was notified about my layoff on Nov 18th, but they didnt know when my last day would be. After legal day one hit on Dec 6th. I was called in the office on Dec12th and was told my rif date is 2/14/2020 but my last day was 12/18/19. I was not in a production role, so I was able to leave. I had to train a couple people on some of processes and I only had 3 days to do it. Hopefully they retained the information.

I didn't get a letter or anything concrete, I was just told my position would continue. That's it. Which is good, I didn't get rif'd (was told Fri before Christmas), but the way it was phrased along with no actual offer makes me think it just gives them more flexibility to rif
me later

I heard third person next wave is February. I hadn’t heard anything about January. :/
I was a lift and shift, no offer letter or anything in writing. I was notified via phone, the week before thanksgiving, as I’m in a different location from my manager. I was told my title is changing but not my pay.

It's eternal non client facing, it will not be nearly the impact as last year. That's all I heard.

Question for last post, so we are starting over again with cascade one? I knew it was coming again, however wasn’t aware so soon.

The second week in January will be the first round of cuts, they agreed not to do any before the holidays. Good luck!

I received an email with a link to accept or decline. My position was lateral and not relocating.

Wow so sorry to hear that but happy it worked out for the best! Best of luck at PNC I have a feeling them and Wells will be picking up quite a few people in the upcoming year.

I received two weeks for every year I worked, the cap is 50 weeks. It was delivered in person by my manager. No advance notice, my manager was out of my office in 10 minutes. He never thanked me for my service after 25 years with the bank, I was in dis-belief. I was asked to work till the end of the month, after that I was paid throughout the 60 days before receiving the severance package. Hope that helps. In retrospect, it was the best thing that happened to me, stress is gone. I now work for PNC, what a difference, can't believe I drank the Kool-Aid for so long.

Thanks for the question and those who provide info! Will be following this one for sure! I agree with original poster, they've done a c-appy job at letting us know what to expect during this portion of the merger! It's pretty sad to get more info here than through any channel at work smh.
