Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Guarantee HQ will move

https://biztimes.com/fiserv-headquarters-search-decision-early-2020/

“We will continue to view Milwaukee as one of our most important hubs,” Yabuki said. “We’re currently headquartered here (in the Milwaukee area) and we currently have no plans to change that.”

Note the careful language — “currently headquartered” and “currently have no plans”. Unlike “continue to view Milwaukee as one of our most important hubs”

And

“We’re just now picking up and looking at where we want to be based, how do we want to make sure we build out a platform that will allow us to attract the best and brightest people. I expect us to make that decision sometime in the early part of 2020.”

My read is that FISV will maintain Milwaukee as a hub office but move HQ to NYC to be closer to capital markets and a better lifestyle for JY. No way they are going to attract the best and brightest in Milwaukee. And no way FB will agree to anywhere other than NYC.

You heard it here first folks.

They have talked about moving the data center out of Brookfield for several years as a part of their DCO (Data Center Optimization) project but that stalled and it still sits there today. They had a major outage several weeks back as the power went out and their were issues with the generator and switching over. Took almost 16 hours to get everything back online because the UPS can only hold the load for so long before systems shutdown. The major items in the data center are Premier and Cleartouch hosting environments. The Premier side is easy to move if Fiserv wanted to do it but Cleartouch is more difficult as the actual code has the ip's hard-coded so it has to be moved to an area in a different data center where the IP space does not conflict.

The few times I've been to the Brookfield campus it seemed to me to be kind of a hodge-podge of duties. There is the executive folks (which aren't all that many that actually work out of south wing), the corporate bean counters (again many of the big names work out of other locations) . Then there was call center and developer folks on a couple floors and enterprise and production folks for 2 product lines and a data center on site. From what I could tell people that would be considered HQ type would amount to 100 or less, maybe even 50. So when they talk about relocating HQ out of Brookfield I doubt they include the data center, development, customer support etc folks to be included in the new HQ. Who knows what will happen to those folks if they vacate the Brookfield buildings completely.

So it's possible HQ will stay in Brookfield, but there will never be more than 700-800 people there, and the office filled with people doing HQ-type back office jobs at a lower cost than elsewhere.

But the consensus is (and I agree with it) that the real power base will shift to NY.

The executive offices will be located in NYC with FB and his team. The corporate office for tax purposes can be anywhere. Most new jobs will be hired in NJ/NY where the leadership resides. Any jobs outside that area will be line level employees. Naming of Fiserv Forum is meaningless, First Data sponsored a stadium in Florida and a nascar race in Virginia.

Just like Amazon is leasing out space at Manhattan’s Hudson Yards, So will FB and JY. By relocating offices and HQ here, this NEW debacle will lead then to join the billionairs boy's club.

First Data is now fiserv.

Corporate office decisions are made for money when it comes to relocating offices and HQ. My previous employer moved NY to London and Inc there to avoid Tax implications and then found cheap office space in NY at 1 Liberty Plaza. Nice save one thing, it was across the street from Ground Zero. Heartless so expect nothing less from FB and JY. Money in the bank so they can do what they want.

When FB was hired at First Data, he moved everything to Manhattan... He could care less about the employees as long as its working for him and he surely doesn't care about the money when he personally is reaping the benefit.

How many major customers are in Milwaukee? How many are in the NY area? Enough said.

I know there’s the sponsorship of the Milwaukee Bucks and Fiserv Forum but that can still stay. A lot cheaper there than to sponsor a NY team!!

Its rumored FB has ambitions of running for mayor of New York someday so NY would suit him.
