Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

We can't lose anybody else!

We literally can't afford to lose any more people. The situation is already so bad and risks are enormous with as few people as we have left that a child could see cutting any more would bring us on the verge of disaster.

With that being so obvious, how stupid or blind do you have to be to continue with layoffs?

I’m ashamed that I’m so stUPid I spent my good working years here! I’m embarrassed to tell people I work here. I’m exited to tell my friends and family I have decided to quit. To the ones tat decide to stay just remember the older you get the harder it is to start over so get out now!

Why would they be ashamed? People outside of the railroad don’t care and people inside the rail industry know it’s happening nearly everywhere. It’s 21st century railroading. Take it or leave it. But it’s nothing to be ashamed of.

Well according to Jim Vena they can. This RR doesn't want employees. They want higher paychecks and bonuses for the executive team. The less employees they have, the better. It's so bad now that people are ashamed to wear the UP name. It's now called the UP shame.

Tell that to the mechanical folks let go in LA. Also tell that to people at Portland and Hinkle next week. The executive team doesn't care, they just want a good bonus before retirement. They'd sell there own mothers into the s-x trade for a profit. They're just run of the mill parasites who have no other purpose than to clear out businesses. Lance is inept! He couldn't successfully run a yard sale. He had to hire Vena to do the cutting, like it's a surgical procedure cutting your business and employees off with an axe.

I’d like to see some town halls like politicians have had recently where people are fed up and telling them how it is no filter. Would be awesome if some former employees disrupted a press conference or public appearance with one of the UP clown executives.

We passed disaster when the first injuries and deaths started happening at the beginning of this PSR scheme 5 fatalities last year and countless injuries, starting the new year/finishing the final quarter off with three major injuries at one facility that is completely unacceptable. Everyone knows that with less people to do jobs you put more strain on those left to complete tasks that safely take multiple people to achieve causing burnout which leads to injuries, accidents, and loss of productivity and their favorite buzzword “efficiency”, but hey shareholders can’t get hurt and thats the only people that this current crop of “leaders” care about. Sadly the current “leadership” forgets that at the end of the day they already got the stockholders money and in truth the only value they add is a one time payment. Your customers (who they managed to run off by providing poor service and by telling them how to run their businesses) are your most important people to satisfy, your employees are the next because without them you couldn’t achieve servicing your main source of income, stockholders should be last because their one time investment unless it’s worth millions is just a blip on the bottom line of profits. So this current “leadership” is extremely blind to anything other then the money that they’ll get when they pull their golden parachutes ripcord. Which is sad because the ones suffering here are those actually important to the continued success of a once great (yes I realize that’s debatable) 150 year old company that will be left behind to clean up this monumentally extensive cluster they’ll have left behind.
