Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

I wish Cisco the best but not sure where all this is going

I wish Cisco the best, and genuinely do miss working there; but the tide has shifted. I hope Cisco can figure out the right balance of revenue from licensing. The technology has finally shifted; migrate to virtual and host it in the cloud. If you need dedicated high-bandwidth infrastructure (routing/switching), in house, there are (truly now) many low-end cost alternatives emerging. Going finally over to the customer side, I am amazed how easy it is to implement and maintain. Cisco still makes great gear, but the subscription and licensing component is still a major pain to implement, track, and maintain. It can honestly be a nightmare still. I wish Cisco the best but not sure where all this is going. The stock price reflects the market direction to a commodity IT future. Hang in there folks.

I miss Cisco with all my heart, they are ruthless but fun and panache is off the scale, customers used to smile and love for me to show up, now , its MEH. pay is better, and stable, but miss the cool factor.

Cisco = IBM

If ya want to know what the future looks like, glance over at Big Blue. Perpetual, slow, decay and financial engineering.

Their cloud service aka Meraki is disastrous I found that out when I had phone interviews with various teams that were supporting the security and compliance efforts. I was very surprised how disorganized they were and their level of maturity.
