Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

I'm hoping to be laid off

What this place has turned into is unconscionable. If there is one person who is not looking to get out of here, I'm yet to meet them (apart from managers, of course, they have it made.)

I'm looking as well, but a small severance would be ideal to help me as I settle into another job. Because honestly, what can be worse than what we have here?

My store lp team watches us like hawks. My entire dept was fired for various reason. Except me and another guy. You have to call in everything to a manager. Change a price cause it’s mark wrong. Call a manager or lp gets you. It’s a prison rather than a fun working environment. I have complain about it but nothing changes. The manager always says you need to feel in powered. But I said nope cause my team all got fired for doing their job. I even had a girl lp stand behind me at register as I rang up customers and not say a word to me. She was there for 5 minutes. I turned around and asked if she was ok. She then walked away and talked to my coworker. The same lp girl got fired for stealing. That’s the irony. What’s next sniper Pearches in the store ?

LP need to do something more than bother people trying to do their " job"

I’ve never heard this excuse, ever. I have never worked in a location with LP like this so I would not understand that and for my circumstances this is not an excuse or one that’s even given.
Sounds like a serious problem that should be reported. I am sorry your store is going through that.

to the Manager who left a comment... the reason us a—ociates keep calling " Managers" is cause your wonder over zealous Loss Prevention time waster watch our every move ./ we cant over ride stuff or even feel impowered cause next thing you know we are pulled to lP officer and fired... and thats why we do the nonstop calls all day... so that something that has to change... LP need to do something more than bother people trying to do their " job"

The managers in the store I work in are not like you, fortunately. Neither were the ones in my previous store that closed.

In response to above LOL!!!
I’m sure your not making your metrics based on leadership who are too fearful to lead and are controlled by selling colleagues. No wonder you have been in multiple locations that have closed.

To the person who said my people can’t stand me. It is very much the opposite actually. I’m cold? No I just tell it like it is and give reality checks to people who need it which is called “open feedback” and my colleagues do the same with me, it’s called respect.
As for those that can’t stand me, do you think I care? I have a life outside of the 4 walls I work in and it involves nobody from Macy’s in it. This is a job.....

To the manager who wrote the post, you are very arrogant. I bet the people in your department can't stand you!

In reference to that Manager's reply. You are one cold hearted piece of work. No wonder people hate working at Macys.

I’d also love to hear how managers have it made? All we do is adult babysit people like you that whine, moan and complain. I don’t want to close I can’t work this I can’t do that. All day long and the nonsense phone calls asking dumb questions, are you new here?
I go home wondering how some of you people act with your families. I cringe at the thought of how you behave if that is how you act at a place of business that pays you to be there and sell their brand.
I don’t want to hear your life story or all your personal problems and why you can’t do something at work, I don’t care. If you can’t do the job call out or better yet never come back.
Our function is to drive a business and results and to achieve that through coaching on selling behaviors. Not open to that? Macy’s has many exits you can show yourself out of.
Macys does have a big problem and it is people they employ who believe they are entitled. Come to work, do your job to best of your ability by being open to feedback and recognition and go home when your shift is over. It really is that easy.....

I agree. Going forward seems like you will be working alone with zero help at the risk of your own sanity and health. Not worth it
