You arent suppose to work a register that handles cash if you are the one rebalancing the tills the next day, unless you have a manager do a till audit on that register once you are off.

I work cash office and can have it done by completely done by 8am if no problems. I start at 530. Once done I do loading tickets, due file,ar/ exchange account ect.... And help at Customer Service desk. Having us stand at seld check would be a total waste of time. Most of us work the desk so what changed that we now cant?

Cash office isn't really a true position at our store and they put anyone who can handle cash in there and they go back to their regular job after the cash is done. With cutting FT to 32 hours a week, good luck with that because most of the stores are short staffed as it is. With Pro, receiving, head cashier and overnight OTT, you can't really cut their hours because of what they do from the 8 to 9 hour time frame, 10 with overnight

At other retail places, 30 hours is considered full time in order to get health insurance. I also think 29.5 is the federal law, bumping it up to 30 to work better. At least it used to be.
Surprised Lowes doesn’t do that - have employee pay a bit more for health insurance and have employee work less hours.
It seems like it would be Lowe’s style. Offer pretty good health ins. but work less.

In time, I can see them giving the loading ticket reconciliation to backend support supervisor and delivery coordinator.

Cash office should take no more than 3 hours. Fills and safe are super quick, it’s a scale that’s counting, it’s not like they are counting the change by hand. Putting together the folder is what takes time. Sales Volume doesn't make a difference, the registers are the same in each store ( some stores may have 2 or 3 more registers but that’s only a couple minutes to balance them.) Loading tickets and return receipts should be organized by the person at customer service. You gotta work smarter not harder. As soon as Lowe’s upgrades it’s systems the folders, paperwork and loading tickets will all be digital so yes the job will go away.

The 32 hours was talked about in another thread on this website. If true, 32 hours is basically a 20% pay cut. Wonder how many Lowe's employees could afford that kind of earnings decrease. Guess corporate want's ALL the full timers gone! Hello part-time and third-party workers!!!

The basics of the cash office do not take a ton of time. You count the safe, balance the tills, recount the safe, build the deposit, etc. If there are no shortages or overages of 20 bucks or more you dont even have to research them, just log them. Print the daily business reports, check a few totals, and that is really it.

The actual cash office part of quick. Then you reconcile loading tickets which can take a while depending on how many picks ups and deliveries your store has. If the managers that take back loading tickets from the drivers do their jobs and pair the driver copies with the customer copies that come back, the admin person just has to sort them by number.

For an average store on an average day the cash office can be done in 3 hours easily, assuming no shortages or overages. A lot of people think the office is scarier than it really is. Heck, many ops managers dont even know how to do the cash office.

As long as there is no State law. Lowe's can cut Full-timer to 32 hours.

Ours is full time and can finish in 4 hours then goes on to do other things. But we are not a high volume store. My last store the cash office person was done by 11am. But we did 60mill

I dont understand how yours could finish so fast.

The store I'm at now , our cash office person is afraid the job is being eliminated.

Our cash office person does 2 hours 4 to 6 and then goes to her other job as a school bus driver. Occasionally she needs to come back usually if drawer isn’t significantly off.
