Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

SM no longer Ordering....

SM will not be doing there own store ordering !
It will be done by a computer program. That way the SM's will spend more time on the sales floor coaching and ensuring that employees are getting TBS orders. Which I believe will be a good thing, considering that they sit in the office for most of the week !
And the ASM Ops Mgrs are in jeopardy of loosing there position. The store schedule will be done by SM , and will also take over the receiving paperwork etc..
Good luck.....more changes are coming!

The system has under gone many upgrades. I’ve worked for other retailers where it works perfectly fine. The trick is timing and a limited amount of overrides. The better your inventory level is for the business you are doing the more profitable your store is. The fact is many SMs are still fat fingered and order too heavy on the wrong things. Now if they do this they need to give a why and answer to someone.

Also worked for BBB for over 8 and a half years. I did the ordering for my department. When you lose $2000 or more merchandise a year for one department the system says you still have it. When the Harmons department lost over half a million in the year the system can't pick it up until inventory. I do however applaud that they are at least trying to salvage some type of numbers.

Yes, Linens n Things had a self ordering system. it didn't work most of the time. Sears before that, they started to implement a elf ordering system, didn't work for most of there inventory. Macy's has a self ordering system, but only for hardline items, doesn't work for clothes

Lol everyone questioning the ordering process has clearly never ordered before!! Also the computer has been ordering for stores for over a year. Someone still needs to confirm the computer is not ordering 1000 cookware sets. Bunch of part timers posting on here! Don’t even know how things work in the store lol

To the person saying that to the person who said that the system will fail... HAVE YOU EVER WORKEE IN RETAIL BEFORE BESIDES BBBY??? Like hello how do you think target, Kohl’s, jcp, Walmart, all of the TJX stores do it? They don’t order for themselves. They can reach out to a buyer now and then to get more of something if they need, but we already do ASO ordering. It’s a good call. Bring the senior managers back to the floor. They are needed there. I hate when we need one to make a decision we can’t make without their OK, they can’t be found or are too busy upstairs to come down.

If that's the case, the system will fail... There is no accountability for shrinkage, displays, wrong items returned, wrong items ordered by accident, and basic numbers that need to be adjusted often. if the system says you have 10 of something, and you have none, it will never automatically order the product. Not to worry as long as they continue to close up stores, the managers will get moved around from store to store.

Don’t know where you all work but as a sm I am never in the office also my ops is always at the front end or receiving and the stock room. Sounds like every district/region has different standards and rules. So haters keep on hating but as a believer I will continue to work hard and believe.

Well they need the same rule no one in the office, they don’t have an excuse to be in there now! Everyone watch and report abuse of this new rule! Just joking, you don’t have to watch, they already have monitors being installed, make no mistake about it they are watching to catch anyone so they can be caught in violation and be gone!! These lazy SM and OPs days are numbered, they finally have to work, watch most of them leave. Everyone wanted more help on the floor well they got us some!!

Well it's about time! SMs have milked that ordering BS forever to explain hours, entire DAYS, in their comfy office not dealing with real store issues. I can't wait to see what changes are ahead and just how many feathers are going to be ruffled. Good times!
