I think that the 3000 is a very low estimate. I'm thinking there's going to be more than 3000. The UP is in a bad spot right now. They have trains waiting/delayed because of no crews. Their problems are just beginning.
Just divide 3000 by the number of actual service locations and that will give current employees an idea of where they stand.
Basically 100 people from 30 different locations minimum.
Anyone who works for Union Pacific better be holding onto their wallets, because their jobs are now temporary, especially train crew/conductors, who most likely have their jobs eliminated entirely by the pro one man crew FRA head, Ron Batory, and the fact the courts are now stacked with anti labor/union, neocon judges, and the labor secretary is the late, anti labor/union supreme court justice Antonin Scalia's son, who is severely anti union and anti blue collar workers making a living wage.
Elections have consequences, and this time, it will be the end of tens of thousands of railroad employees careers, and most likely if re-elected, truckers will be next with a stroke of a pen on proposed deregulation for autonomous trucking.
Then there is the new republican National Right to Work bill that removes paragraph 11 from the rail labor act that Trump has vowed to sign in his second term, so goodbye middle class Americans.
