2021 Vacation Buyout for Craft employees

I don't know if this is really a good offer or not. Any time you lead with this I get leary.
This is a VERY LIMITED opportunity in terms of time so you must move quickly.
Anyone got a thought if this is worth it or should you just what until they furlough you?

Do you think the RR is being sold? They don't fix trains anymore they just drag a working one out and side line the old. The trains are dirty never washed, layoffs continue. It is like they are trying to maximize the bottom line for resale.

Just wondering as UP planning for 3k round of cuts.... I'm in bottom 10% of my craft. Survived 2019, but most likely going in 2020. Safe to say, layoffs are imminent.

They are trying to get two groups of people with this. those that are about to retire out the door and most of those people are already filling out if they’ve not already filled out their paperwork. And those that have found other jobs that are going to be giving notice soon. Thing about this is what pay you get is going to get hammered by taxes and retirement, just ask the people that sold back vacation the last time they offered that to everyone.

Is because UP is a sack of sadness a good reason for quitting?

Voluntary Quit Without Good Cause–If you leave either your railroad job or non-railroad work voluntarily and the Railroad Retirement Board (RRB) determines you left without good cause, you will be disqualified for railroad unemployment benefits until you return to railroad work and earn wages sufficient to qualify for benefits again.

If you were planning on quitting or retiring then it is a good thing. I was going to quit for a new job in March so I’ll just go in feb and get the vacation I was goin to miss out on. If you going to quit and don’t have another job or probably can’t get one then you probably shouldn’t.
