Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

What is the future of Unity? Is this the lifeboat for the LR5? Are they bringing anyone with them?

It seems like having this second company with all their friends and relatives that isnt in bankruptcy seems like the logical lifeboat for these folks. Anyone have any thoughts on how that would work out, and the impact on WS employees?

Yeah, its quite the ponzi scheme WIN and Uniti are running together. Moving assets and stocks around and pull the rug out from under shareholders.

Uniti really bailed out Windstream, wow. Looks like just the shareholders of Windstream get screwed.

They were T1 grooms with the carrier, customer contracts on that T1 were not extended. You had to cut all those T1s twice. Verizon gave windstream flat pricing so they could bring all T1s back to a select few collos and shut the rest down. So windstream started cutting every T1, then when they went into ch 11 verizon pulled that flat pricing and it went back to pricing by the mile, so all those T1s needed to be migrated back to the closest collo to that customer. And yes, I am only talking CLEC due to pricing

Yes, 10 years that is the plan, See blelow:

On the CLEC side we no longer get wholesale pricing, if circuits are on-net it makes sense to groom them. There is ALOT of type 2 circuits on the ELNK network.

We won't sell any new installs/upgrades on copper.

Not renew contracts? Not sure where your Intel is coming from. We have been doing cost savings grooms on T1's for EarthLink circuits like gangbusters. I've wired more T1's for this project than I've wired in the past 3 years and that's not an exaggeration.

"10yrs for copper? Copper wont be around in 3yrs. Windstream has already taken the stance not now renew any copper customer contracts."

I think you're just talking about CLEC

10yrs for copper? Copper wont be around in 3yrs. Windstream has already taken the stance not now renew any copper customer contracts. They convert to officesuite/SD-WAN or they can find another carrier. Layoffs have been focused on this part of the business. If you work on copper your days are numbered.

Anybody really surprised at this point. Uniti was a scam from the beginning, everyone of these thieves are getting paid and nobody goes to jail. Well done LR5.

Uniti hiring current Windstream execs after ch 11 is just asking for huge lawsuits.

The plan if for unity to diversify their portfolio over the next 10 years. By then most of the copper network will be worth peanuts. I think they are banking on heavy growth of wireless carriers 5G and beyond.

Not that they need a lifeboat, the millions should be enough, but my guess is with their greed, the millions actually arent enough, and they are not done milking these cash cows for them selves. Maybe another BK scheme for Unity in ten years that they can use to get huge paychecks until they tank and then more huge BK bonuses? You know that the thought has to have crossed their minds at least once.
