For those feeling discouraged by the layoff, I was laid off from uhc and a little over two years ago. I was hired buy another company in about a month's time, with a 20% raise from what I was making at UHC. And I increased that wage by another 15 to 20% in the next two years, based on my performance. The grass most certainly is greener, seize the opportunity. I can't be too mad at UHC because they gave me the skills I needed to get a better job later when they decided that I wasn't worth keeping on.
PROS team lost 11 people
Then Thursday pop up meeting to announce promotions of 2 managers
- with no job posting. They jobs were created
There were 5000 total effective 2/19 or 2/20. It was not one dept or site, this was US wide. There were previously 500 who were done 1/2 and then others let go in November as well.
They did a reorg again that impacted my team. Since July we have went from a team of 16 to a team of 4 onshore and offshore grew to 8. During reorg this week we lost 1 onshore to another team. So basically I think it is safe to say that my team will not be in existence soon. I am pleased with the knowledge I have gained about so many different areas of healthcare. So I will be able to take that to another company at least. I also have a strong technical background. My only competitor will be offshore at these larger companies so I am going to try a smaller speciality company next. Onward!
Cypress, California was affected by the layoffs yesterday.
So, Compliance in New Orleans is the only one affected? It felt more like several locations were being hit.
OMG, where is this country going...
1 who just returned from serving our country walked in the door to only be told -we no longer have a job.
There will be many more American layoffs - Check out this article https://www.nhsforsale.info/private-providers/optum-united-health-new/
Optum is developing the NHS now
Does anyone have a good idea of how many were let go yesterday? 2/19?
The Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Relief Act of 1994 (USERRA) provides job protection to workers who serve in the military, typically those in the National Guard or military reserves. ... The law applies to all employers
You need to file a complaint with USERRA.
So sorry to hear that, please remember you are not alone. We are all in this together.
I was in a Compliance dept of 16 and our entire dept was laid off yesterday. We are all in New Orleans...1 who just returned from serving our country walked in the door to only be told -we no longer have a job. UHC and all of the sell outs @ People Health don't give 2 sh–s about anyone but themselves. I was told they will lay off another 300 before they're done.
