we continue to hire..currently 100 plus postings in North America..a new position created a few years ago called "Advisor" and always comes with a hefty PSG and no accountability to the bottom line. Where is the disconnect in our company?

There is a lot of deadwood still remaining from the last round that needs to be cut. It is evident by seeing and reading all the posters of this site and the nature of the posts.
IMO you only do a transformation / evolution if you’re looking to cut 10%+
Having a higher number of advisors and champions can be attributed to one main reason and one main purpose. The company is hell bent to elevating minorities and women to management positions. Many of these new people hired or promoted into management don't possess the fundamental skills or the knowledge to be in the job they were given. The reason for the advisors and champions are to fill in their skill and knowledge gaps and help guide these novice supervisors and managers to making a more informed decision. It’s actually paying two or more jobs to complete one job. The purpose for having more advisors and champions around is to serve as scapegoats. Yep, if any of these novice management types make a costly mistake to the company, it’s the advisor or champion who will be blamed and fired.
I get it, I see the writing on the wall.
I just hope to get my EOI before accepting a new job. I’ve been with chevron 10 years, I would love that departing gift. 20 weeks severance.
Keeping my fingers crossed
Too many advisors and champions.
This too shall pass.
The company is NOT going out of business. There will be significant change. Many won't make it to 2021; some will leave with severance after they choose the EOI. Others will be released due to poor performance, some because their position is eliminated, jobs will be lost to qualified persons during the selection process or due to an unwillingness or inability to relocate. There are numerous scenarios, these are just a few. But the corporation will remain in business one way or another. It might not be pretty and it may turn out to be a long, bloody, tough road ahead. The future is promised to no one. We live in Interesting times.
Pediction?? Paaaaaaaiiiinnn
