Boy oh boy!
@stj They are talking about IBM employees attending non-IBM events. Not their own events.
: @1iyl Good podcast
20 minute podcast on how the corona virus could potentially impact the economy. Pay particular attention from the 7 minute to the 12:30 minute mark, as that's the discussion on layoffs.
Will Coronavirus Cause a Recession? –

I think both are true. Cancelling events is smart and IBM will use this as an excuse for poor performance.
Huge healthcare companies are laying off during these conditions. Cannot make money taking care of people for free.
I don't consider 1,000 attendees being a big event for IBM. A pretty poor showing to be honest.
Not a fan of IBM.... But, y'all are reaching now. IBM's decision to cancel travel and large events is in line with other large corporations. It's just smart.
Already called it - year end revenue will be missed, but blamed on coronavirus instead of lack of leadership strategy and a demotivated workforce.
But all companies are getting prepared to use coronavirus as an excuse.
The real test will be if IBM is cruel enough to lay off staff in these conditions. Both tech and services companies are tightening their belts. Being laid off in this environment would be worse than during the Great Recession. GLTA.
