Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

How many super highly paid expats with their zillion allowances are out there? Each expat is at least a million dollars in cost. Eliminate 500 expats or move them back to their home base where possible. That is at least 500 million bucks. Could be even more. Will pay 25% of the next dividend obligation. That would be a good smart move for Chevron in this super low oil price environment. Truthfully Chevron has still not regained its full financial health since the 2015-2016 oil price hit. And now oil price has been dealt a death blow by the actions of the Russians and the Saudi kingdom. This is going to cripple the performance of Chevron. This is not the time for lavish perks like exorbitant allowances and premiums and private schools and expensive company paid vacations.

Don’t believe everything you read - lots of “baiters” out there trying to elicit inflamed responses for their own amusement.

Too much jealousy expressed regarding expats. If one has the skills, nothing stopping them from applying for expat jobs subject to family, health, and age conditions.

This is the attitude of expats Chevron does not need, boasting about 10 year stint Thailand etc. Chevron should bring back expats after 3 years or at least start paying the expats just like local after the firt 3 years - 200000 thai bahts a month

I have been in Thailand 10 years. Great allowances, benefits, weather, servanta, take-home salary almost triple. Why would I go back to old USA and give up all these luxuries?

Chevron Expats sourced from other countries working in the USA are 100% charged to Chevron and are costly.

Expats in GOM are doing nothing spectacular but amassing wealth. The do the routine work nothing that can impact significantly Chevron results. They stay in US because they have friends.

Chevron does not pay 100% of the expats cost but only its working interest share. The rest is charged out to the other partners so its not as large as it appears.

The problem is not the number of expats, that cost saving is nothing compared the price overruns exhibited in Gordan, TCO and elsewhere, big guys who run the show should be let go once they scew up with no benefits and no payouts the this company can make money and sustain low oil prices.
