Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Oracle not cancelling travel at this time

Every other company is doing it. Maybe the idea is that if employees get sick, it will be a cheap way to reduce headcount.

Thankfully none of my customers are requiring in person meetings since all of their staff is now working remotely.

Oracle isn’t self insured.

Do a google search. The Open Enrollment PDF clearly states:

"Oracle's United Healthcare medical, MetLife dental, and Vision Service Plan (VSP) vision plans are self-insured"

Since O is self insured the hospital bills could get pricey. A few days in an ICU would be more costly than a severance package.

I have to call b—s— on this one. Oracle has canceled a ton of events and sales travel in the US.

There are several freezes, all cost based: travel freeze, hire freeze, job transfer freeze ...
But I guess no fire freeze ... :-)

Oracle doesn't care if staff get sick. The only decision point for travel is cost, that's all SC cares about. Flights are probably cheap right now.
