Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Coronavirus

The only way UP will excuse absence is by using your vacation up, if you don't use your vacation iT goes against you per NLR HR. If you do get it the railroad retirement might pay you unemployment benefits. Yet the directors and managers do not get dinged for missing work because of sickness yet the employees do. Pure PATHETIC MANAGEMENT!!!!!

Yes call your doctor. But he’s not going to see you the first day for cold symptoms due to capacity issues right now. If you don’t believe it then try.

If you looked at the CDC website, you see this at the very top...the first piece of advice the government and the company want you to follow:

“Call your doctor: If you think you have been exposed to COVID-19 and develop a fever and symptoms, such as cough or difficulty breathing, call your healthcare provider for medical advice.”

You are obviously as smart as a box of rocks. Yes you immediate quarantine yourself but you don’t go to the doctor immediately. And if your sick you stay home. That doesn’t mean you have to have the coronavirus. It just says if your sick stay home during the coronavirus. I hope UP gets the sh– sued out of them. And I hope this attendance policy blows up in your face.

Right. Don’t listen to a doctor that the networks brought out to help ratings. Listen to the CDC. The guy getting his info from ratings-driven sources is calling someone listening to a group of scientists an id–t. Classic ‘Murca moment. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/if-you-are-sick/steps-when-sick.html

Whoever is instructing you to wait 2-3 days, stop listening to them and follow the CDC. The company says follow CDC guidelines. The company clearly stated file MLOA if you’re instructed to quarantine yourself. Stop listening to random people and listen to the people who control the attendance policy.

the funny thing is they say go to the doctor if you're sick and get a note, but that doesn't always protect you. furthermore, this is a PANDEMIC and we are being instructed not to go to the doctor the first day or two with a cold, but to see if the symptoms go away. So, you layoff sick 3 days in a row but symptoms go away and you go back to work depending on what board you are on you are fired. oh but if you actually had the coronavirus fill out the paperwork and its ok. So what is going to happen in reality is people will just go to work sick and infect everyone else. Thanks UP.

I understand what mloa is, Fritz said in his town hall about coronavirus, "just like we always have done, bring a doctors note, and the day is excused". That is not the case at all in NLR, no doctors notes are accepted.

They’re not telling you to get a doctor’s note If you have Coronavirus. They’re saying to go on Medical Leave of Absence. There’s a form that gets filled out, UP’s Health Department gets involved, calls are made to verify your status. It’s not simply a note from your doctor, and it should protect you from an attendance policy violation. No, having pieces of paper from doctors isn’t going to cover excessive absences, but MLOA is treated differently.

They will place you In LA WITH Dr diagnosis, However they control when you can come back.
And no pay. Only get pay when you burn vacation.
They are in complete control

Without a doubt our HR (in NLR) says NO doctors notes are accepted. You have to use vacations days, or after you exceed the unknown number on sick days, note or not you will be in MAPS. I for one am in MAPS, and had doctors notes for every occurence (4 total).

If it’s in writing it needs to be made public especially since the company is claiming to be a family oriented company.
