Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

What happened to all the movies?

A little bird in el Segundo told me that nothing is really being produced. Didn’t Ynot build a whole department in LA for this? That’s what everyone here in EMEA thought. Is it fake news? I don’t know what to believe any more.

The more you know of Mattel’s movie strategy, the more one can see it has no way of succeeding. Incompetence breeds failure. How’s that AG brand fairing now???, down triple digits in the current crisis.

Margo’s strategy was high tech toys and data saving the company. CS strategy was to have a dream team make silly deals that would “save” the company. BS strategy was to double the size of his inexperienced leadership team and make stupid decisions. They should look for a CEO who resembles Bob E.

In typical Mattel executive fashion, I'm afraid Ynon's legacy will be the story of a man who spent two years talking about making movies that never even entered production, let alone saw theatrical releases. 😓

The Master's of the Universe film, directed by Aaron and Adam Nee and staring teen heartthrob Noah Centineo as He-Man was scheduled to begin shooting this summer, but now who knows if this virus might effect the start of production.

Masters of the Universe was supposed to be released in 2021, but a report from THR says the movie could go directly to Netflix. Sony moved another movie into the March 5, 2021 slot and then the movie studio quietly removed MoTU from its schedule.

They are not making movies because Mattel is not spending any money and the movie studios have not been motivated enough to start production. Movie studios put their time and money into movies that might actually make money. Sony had the rights to make a Barbie movie for 10 years and never got excited about it enough to actually start production. They announce that so and so will write a script and so and so will star in the movie but that is just PR and does not mean production will ever start. But Mattel employs loads of employees in this group to make the whole charade believable.

Aren’t there movies in production now? I thought that’s what the ceo has been talking about for two years? Isn’t there a whole department in LA? What’s actually happening out there???????

Mattel creations do not make movies, they make press releases about making movies. No movies are actually made. They have some lady named Robbie who gets paid to pretend to make movie deals.

They don’t even have signed agreements with any of the movie studios. This is all PR and all talk. Remember when Sony was going to make a Barbie movie? They announced that Amy Schumer would star in it, then it was Anne Hathaway. This is all made up nonsense by the clueless CEO.

Was it a little bird, or a Lady Bird? Because Greta Gerwig is totally going to make the Barbie movie, and she's going to make it a hit!

Look on IMDB. It's been announced! ANNOUNCED!

I for one can't wait!

All the talk about movies is just talk. There are no movies being made. Zero. Nothing.

Business and world health events have changed the whole Charade. Movies in future appear nothing more than a gimmick to boost perception of value of Mattel. Stock was at $7.85 this week. Company will be lucky to get product on shelves. Oh yea, recession is most likely on horizon. A deep fast acting recession too!
