Employees and Medical Staffs At December 31, 2019, we had approximately 280,000 employees, including approximately 70,000 part-time employees. References herein to “employees” refer to employees of our affiliates. We are subject to various state and federal laws that regulate wages, hours, benefits and other terms and conditions relating to employment. At December 31, 2019, certain employees at 37 of our domestic hospitals are represented by various labor unions. One election was held in January 2020 that resulted in the addition of a number of employees to an existing bargaining unit at one of our facilities in California. While no other elections are scheduled in 2020, it is possible that employees at additional hospitals may unionize in the future. We consider our employee relations to be good and have not experienced work stoppages that have materially, adversely affected our business or results
HCA back in March b4 COVID was nearly 280k+ or - employees and contractors across the entire enterprise. HCA was very proactive early on. All contractors were laid off. But all f/t employees' jobs were saved by multiple salary reduction policies that the company embraced. From 30% senior leadership down to 10% for other support staff. We were very lucky, we still have our jobs. Now it's time to rebuild and try and move forward with a big paradigm shift for efficiency, post-pandemic workplace, technology, and services. New World, new thinking for the workplace ahead. Praying that we as a nation can all get back to supporting one another and the looming downturn in the economy..
