Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Was Sam's Club ever a good place to work for?

I've started a year ago and to be honest I can't imagine this place was ever good to its employees. But I have some older coworkers who keep talking about the "good old days."

Is it just them looking back with rose-tinted glasses or was there really a time when I might have enjoyed it here?

It is what you make it. Leadership in club plays a big part. Is it staffed? Are process being followed? Do you care to care? If not then I can see why you think it s—s. #lifechoices

It’s just a job now. Everything was better 30 years ago yes. Times change and life changes. Sams will not last forever we will see more clubs close. My old regional manager once said about 14 years ago, Walmart and Sams will go full circle. He was right . Be smart and always look for a better job as your collecting your check. God Bless.

You actually used to get raises based on your job performance. You didn't get the same raise as someone who does nothing. Imagine that. If you were a hard worker you could actually get a merit raise.

If you made same amount 11 years ago as you do now...you probably were on of those who back in the days got a $ raise for just showing up and telling ur boss he is the best...come on!!

Cant agree more with the person saying “once the walmart policies and ways “got into samsclub its been going down fast”
Bottom line is ...its going downhill and many associates at all levels are not happy and it carries into what the members see....

Back before the big one, Mr. Sam used to hand out crisp $100 bills to the associates just for showing up. All that went to sh– when DOUG MCMILLION strolled into my club and told me zone up the cozy throws. This company is going downhill now that we're turning a profit i can't believe this.

I keep telling myself that things will get better. A lot of good managers out there and a lot of not so good we need good leaders and those are the ones that will change this around.

I've been with Sam's for 40 years and during WW2 it was a great place to work

At one time it was. I’ve been with Sam’s going on 27 years. I make the same money as I did 11 years ago. When I started there were no cap. It’s sad to think about a company that can’t raise your pay at some point. I’m years away from retirement, I’m now working a second job just to keep up. 😞

Been there for 32 years, and yes, there was a time that Sam’s Club was a great place to work! We were all valued and appreciated for our hard work and loyalty ! Wish I could say that now, they have no loyalty towards their associates anymore, so that is why a lot of us are no longer loyal. We are just there to get our paychecks . Makes me sad that the company no longer follows Mr. Sam’s beliefs.

I have been with the company for 27 years and yes there was a time where the company was all about the associates. Or in the clubs I have worked at...It was a very family oriented place to work. But this was back in the day where they cared about their associates. So many things have changed over the years and now its only about how much money they can make and how much work they can get out of the associates for the least amount of pay...And it keeps getting worse.
