Most Ethical Companies show bravery when downsizing. Ethisphere 2020 - unlikely.

How downsizing is handled says a lot about the nature of an organization and its leadership. Ethical downsizing is, first of all, a refusal to deny the complexity of the issues and evidence of the organization's commitment to justice and human dignity.

Treating working people with contempt is a bad business strategy, plain and simple. Those laid off said it was more how the situation was handled that left people feeling betrayed and insulted. People wished their companies hadn't waited until the last second to announce the layoffs and had demonstrated more compassion.

That’s right. 20 percent cost reduction comes from people. CEO has no business being there. He’s a salesman not a leader and people will see through it. CIO is also not a leader and a despicable human to boot. The place gets worse by the day.

I smell a class action lawsuit coming. Was there any retraining or upskilling of workers? No! Assessed skills? No!

It’s too bad. A lot of layoffs yet to come. Have you heard the new millennial CEO wants to reduce 20% of the costs by 2023? Heard about this in a townhall and not sure people grabbed onto it. 20% cost reduction ... that means people!

Good communication is absolutely critical in the planning and implementation of layoffs. While the information you have to present is not pleasant, employees must hear it directly and honestly from management not from the rumor mill. Honest communication is one of the key ingredients in managing change as well as managing people.
