Macy’s is not able to compete at the target level.
Stores are mall based on the whole.
Consumers taste levels have never varied this much, yet the sameness throughout every region negatively affects everything.
There is zero reason to “shop” Macy’s, you see same products and stores are looking very worn and dated.
It was only a matter of time when they closed regional buying offices and told everyone computers could understand customer wants.
Low Prices are all that’s left and the “Macy’s” model doesn’t fit that direction.
Now add in all the loses from vendor issues of led times, profitability and loss of volume.
Macy’s did this to themselves.
