Please look at this chart, it will tell you what you are eligible for in regards to health coverage here in California. California is fortunately one of the states that has some good options for low income people in order to continue receiving health coverage. Also, Coverage California and Medical are surprisingly good to deal with. In some instances, if you meet a certain threshold, you will be eligible for Medical - meaning the state will cover all of your healthcare. We actually have a system that works somewhat well for those who aren't fortunate enough to get coverage through work, or have been laid off. I know it's scary, and it really s—s - sorry for your troubles - I've been through it before with other companies. COBRA is the worst - so expensive. Good luck - I send you good thoughts.

Isn’t it sad that the “healthcare” company that lays us off doesn’t even offer us the option of extending our “healthcare” after they lay us off? Seems like it’s something that would be well within their abilities SINCE THEY ARE A HEALTHCARE COMPANY and the employees that helped build it were also members, u know the people they claim to care so very much about. Just a little display of Compassion that’s supposedly one of their “values” would be nice. There’s nothing that would prevent them from running it through the severance period. Oh wait, there is, they don’t give AF
I was laid off on 10/4/19 and as a single dad the unemployment income was low enough to qualify for Medi-Cal and Food Stamps. Both have been enough to help me get through while I look for something else.
Yes ACA is way cheaper
