Non compete

So i took the package on my last day was given exit paperwork that said there was a non solicit non complete clause even though never saw it and boss wasn't there last day so no info or copies of signed paperwork. Did say if you didn't sign it no last check. Now applying for a new job and if you have these clauses is a question on the application. If that wasn't part of the separation offer not fair that they slipped it in on the last day and looks like you have to tell new employer. I searched every way i could for these clauses no info anywhere. Now what?

Those are actually illegal, preventing you from performing a job with your trained skill sets, you just can't disclose internal knowledge that could cause a conflict.

Rarely does anyone try to pursue this because unless you have broke a proprietary issue they can't say you can't work. It's unenforceable.

No compete prevented me from taking a pkg and getting a real job. It wasn't worth the chance they would come after me. They might not stop you but they can cost you a lot of money fighting them.

Go ahead and job hunt in your field. Non Compete’s are next to impossible to enforce. An employer can’t keep you from making a living. Just don’t disclose and company info.
